Another vote for the BFG Comp 2. I am at about 15k on these, and they have a ton of tread left. I don’t track the car, but have plenty of fun on the street. No slip at all in the rain, not much any tire can do in the snow with this car.

Same. Got caught out in a nasty thunderstorm this week with wind gusting perpendicular to the road pushing cars around and the temps in the high 40s. The Camaro felt very stable, where in similar circumstances with the OEM tires it was rather...greasy feeling.

I bought the BFGoodrich comp 2 summer tires last week. I had said before in this post my car seemed to be driving bad. The rear tires were out of alignment pretty bad which worry’s me considering I only have 30,000 miles on the clock. Anyway car drives great now and I love being able to push the pedal down and not ripping the rear tires off the car.

When I finally replaced my bald Pirelli tires I ended up purchasing the Cooper Zeon RS3-S 245/45/20 for the front and 275/40/20 for the rear. I got a decent deal purchasing them from eBay. The Cooper Zeon RS3-S tires have excellent dry and wet traction and really planted my Camaro to the ground. Also they actually lasted a long time comparing to other tires I had in the past. I really liked the tread design and contact patch of the Cooper Zeon RS3-S tires and they are the best moderately expensive tire I ever used. You can always install wider width tires on your Camaro than I did.

I’ve only had my SS for 3 months so I’m not sure if they come in our sizes,... but Michelin Pilot Super Sports are some of the best performance tires made. They come factory on many hi-perf cars and were phenomenal for me and friends for years. Grip, handling, response, braking, wet, dry, road noise,.....it’s all there. The real deal.
I think they were recently updated and given a slightly new name by Michelin though. Read Tire Rack owner reviews/ratings. You won’t be disappointed. |

This thread came at a good time. I still have the original Pirelli P-Zeros on my 2010 SS. She's not a DD, just a fair weather car. Looking to replace them later this spring. I'm more concerned about the tires age than how much tread is left.

I have had two Gen 5 Verts. First was an 1LT. When I replaced the Pzeros my tire guy steered me to the Nitto Mitivos due to warranty verse Yokahama. I was very pleased and when I upgraded to the current 2SS/RS it had the same tires installed. I have replaced them about 20k miles ago and saw no reason to change. In SE Alabama we get a lot of wind and rain, and even the occasional sleet. 25mi trip to work usually before daybreak and never so much as a slip.

So... time for me to replace my rears, only have 45000kms on it. Looking at doing the Michelin pilot sport a/s with the stock pirellis on the front. Any suggestions on what size I should do on stock rear rims if I want to go wider than 275? I'm terrible at doing the math.

I have Michelin AS3+ on my 1LE and they suck for traction on hard acceleration. They're great in the rain though.

I found a set of very good used P Zero's 295/30/20 and put those on thinking wider would get more traction. LOL. I quickly found out what happens when you put mismatched heights on between the front and rear wheels. I've been driving around ever since with stabili track disabled light on, no abs and no traction control. Lesson learned. They also light up like I'm on ice.
I ran into a guy who had 17's I believe, maybe they were 18's with a much taller profile tire. He hooks up like crazy. I'm convinced most of the problem is not the brand of tire, rather it's how low profile they are. The taller tires with the smaller wheels will get more traction. I've been thinking of picking up a smaller diameter wheel just for launches when I want to run it in a straight line.
