We called several places... DSS will have them to me tomorrow or thereabouts...

I won't be at the mile in March... I'll be on a rig, and if I can get off the rig a week early, I'll have to go to a Subsea meeting in Lafayette. It's not in the cards for me until October... I hope I'm off the rig then...

The bolts are for the CV/Stub shaft interface...

C'mon... tell 'em the real reason.

For all that don't know R needs these to BOLT HIMSELF TO THE RIG. That will keep him from being dredged up the side of it. A 10 point cage and helmet were too bulky for him to carry around - gotta stay safe.

LMAO... B, if I was going to do that the bolts would be a lot bigger, and they wouldn't be metric... The only thing on the rig that's metric, is the water maker... Well, and the tree / stack skid carts... But I'm in the process of changing that... BMPP fittings have no place on our rig, but whoever wrote the bid didn't specify SAE fittings... Oh well...

As an aside, I stay away from wet areas of the rig, columns, pontoons, etc, other than a shower...

Ok, this must be one of those optical illusion things...

These stub shafts and axles were big on the ground and in the box, but now that they are mostly installed in the car... They are absolutely monstrous...

I'm thinking that a Boeing 767 could use these for landing gear... and they look like they could drive a train down the track...

Unbelievable... Simply huge... Bear in mind the stub shaft flanges coming off the diff are 7/8 or so of an inch thick.... That should give you something to compare with....As you are looking at the diff, there is the black part of the pumpkin, then a silver plate... Outward from there is a gap, then a dark metal plate... That's the stub shaft outer flange.... 7/8's of an inch thick...

Everything out from there is CV joint and axle.... Simply massive.... and feels and appears to be hell for stout...

Corey and I spent the day fabricating pieces for the new parts... Corey was working on the new turbo housings and I was modifying the drive shaft loop.

With the new turbo housing's, we had to cut the outlet from them and then weld some 90 degree turns onto them. This allows for them to turn into the boost piping. Corey has already ordered the new silicone couplers. The inlet openings are quite a bit bigger than the old turbos. They should be here around Monday or Tuesday...

As for the drive shaft loop, with the beefiness on the new drive shaft front spool, we had to lengthen the drive shaft loop frame... I found some metal and cut it to fit and welded it in place... I spent a while fabricating some nice looking braces (gussets) to support the extra length... I will finish them up in the morning and weld them in place as well... After that, I'll reassemble all of the parts and put the new drive shaft in...

Corey left this evening to go to a machine shop to cut down the inlet openings so the new couplers will fit as they should... He has to shorten them about 1/2" or so....

Pics of the modified drive shaft loop and the new turbo housings tomorrow....

Oh, we are also going to be fabricating a catch can for the diff.... We determined a spot to mount in near the driver side rear wheel well... Pretty simple application here... but, it needs to be done...

I stopped at IPS this week and they had a Camaro in the shop that they had just installed a DSS 9" kit in (almost identical to mine, but with different gears). I made the same comment that yoy did, R... "that stuff looks HUGE in the car!" It looks really beefy!

You car is coming along great. I'm really glad you're all healed up and well enough for some play time at the shop with your car.

My car goes in to the shop for a cage next week. After that, they can start putting all the new goodies in it.

The fact that he will work side by side with you in HIS shop says a lot about him, and your own skills.

.... or he's sucking up so you'll do all his stainless fuel line runs for him
