First Fest For me and Family. Can I balance Fest and Family?

Hello to all,

I have booked a room for the Fest. It is the first time we are going. We live about 10 hours driving time from there. This is the closest the fest has been for "us". So I am really looking forward to the trip and weekendTo be honest this would not be a question if I was not bringing the Family. I am and not sure what to expect. I need to break up the fest activities with some "other" family activities. My son is going to be 3-1/2. He loves daddys car and says CAMAAROO!

I am expecting there is going to be some challenges. Are there any other "families " that are taking their kids under the age of 5 to the fest? Have there been any families that have been to past C5fests that can tell me how it was for them? I am also hoping to go there in a Camarovan from Maryland. Any advice except (don't bring the Family!) would be helpful. Thanks in advance

One of the reasons we have the fest in the Spring or better yet Summer is so families can come. If they are lucky Spring break will hit and in the Summer most are out of school.

This year there is an amusement park right next door if you want to spend some time there and the parking lot will be full of lights and people. I've seen kids with remote control cars running around and other toys. One thing for sure this will get him into the car thing and will not be something to forget.

Really glad you can make it this year. Maybe others can chime in with how they handled the kidos.

Here in indiana the kids go back to school the last week in July. My son is starting kindergarten so he won't be going. I took him for a day at fest 4 in indy, it helped living 5 min from the event I could have taken him home if needed. He enjoyed the racing.

These events are a great "learning event". I had my son miss a day of preschool a few weeks ago to go to the chicago autoshow, no way would he have learned about how a supercharger (CTs-V LT4) or dyno works.

I've never been to a "fest," but when my kids were little they went everywhere with us. There never was a question about whether they should or should not. With this being a car related event, it should be fun for them and also help give them some foundation in having an interest in cars when they get older. Too many of today's young people are hooked and focused on video games and they never experience real things. I'm sure kids at an event like this would be a good thing.

I wish MY Dad had taken an Interest in cars. I wish I'd learned at an early age to be a DIY kind of guy. It's to late for this Ole DOG. But you Guys who can get your kids involved I say GOOD FOR YOU>

I think you both will be worn out with so many options and so much to do. As mentioned, I know at the host hotels, the gatherings in the parking lot has been full of kids playing with remote cars/toys/helicopters. Make it fun, and they will enjoy it as much as you.

Thanks Mlee and others for your thoughts and experiences with this subject. I was concerned because of the distance and if there would be enough interest for my family. I feel much more comfortable now than before. Kentucky here we come!

A question for Mlee. Are helmets available to those who do not have one at the fest if they want to participate in any of the racing aspects of the Fest?

Thanks Again

Sounds like a good time. I may need to buy my son a remote control car so he doesn't want to take one from another kid

One more question. The wife is not a big car fan like most. She doesn't enjoy sitting in a chair talking about cars for hours: What other activities are there for the ladies?

There are plenty of things to do in Bowling Green. Just up the road there are some massive caves you can take her to. Nice town and Nashville is just right down the road. I lived there for two years

There is a mall as well
