Obama considering tax on imported fuels.

This could save US refining from going over seas. Its going to be a import fee on oil and finished products that come in from countries that do not meet the US environmental standards for air emissions.

Umm. Link? and that would mean higher gas prices you know that right? You think refiners are going to eat that cost?

I can agree with that but this really does appear to be a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't sort of situation. It could also prompt OPEC to go a little greener (for lack of a better term) if their biggest customer is willing to walk.

...But we'd pay more. Either way, IBTL.

This will do nothing but cost american jobs. Look what happen when gas went to
$4.00/gal. The economy tanked and we lost millions of jobs. They blamed it on the housing bubble because they still want to tax oil. If they blamed it on gas prices then they would have no support to tax it more. The bubble would not of burst if gas wouldn't have doubled in less than three or four months.

By the way we have no leverage over OPEC and they know it. They have the oil and we need it. They do what they want.

I think you will find more oil comes from Canada than Opec into the USA.
It's a pipeline.... not tankers.
