Anybody do X-pipe AND an H-pipe? Lets discuss!

So this might be a dumb question, but what will happen if you do an x-pipe at the front and an H-pipe at the rear? I have a 2010 SS I put headers on and removed the cats with no h-pipe or x-pipe and now the car makes a very bad "echoing" sounds under any acceleration. After doing a lot of research people say to do an x-pipe or h-pipe to eliminate this. I wonder if you could have the best of both worlds by putting an x-pipe close up by the headers and then at the rear of the tunnel do an H-pipe to make it a little more deep sounding AND keep both exhaust banks pressure's equalized?

The h gives you a deeper tone compared to the higher pitch of an X. Its been proven that there really is no performance gain between the 2

I think the x makes 1-2 more.... which is nothing. But I think the x sounds much better.

I'm more talking sound. Not worried about 2 hp. I like the deeper tone. I'm talking about putting an h pipe behind the x pipe. Wonder if 2 would make sound that much better. Looking for it to quiet the car down a bit as well

There are fans of both regarding sound...i think the h sounds better. That set up may sound worse to you then the one you have now.

Doesn't make all that much sense to put both on there, not really a reason to do so to most. You'll be the first that's documented it here, so by all means, be the Camaro5 guinea pig, as I'm curious what it will sound like!

People usually choose one or the other for their sound preferences. The X gives a more corvette raspy growl where as the H gives a deeper rumble. The majority of the aftermarket exhaust companies go with the X because it performs slightly better. Personal preference in sound is what it will mainly come down to, which would you prefer?

Lol no it doesn't get worse then the way it sounds now. Nails on a chalk board would be a better sound

I struggle to understand comparing a 6.2L V8 through any exhaust to nails on a chalkboard.

More is not better. More is just more. Adding another cross-connect to your exhaust system doesn't improve anything. In fact, it may provide the opposite affect, creating obstruction to otherwise good fluid flow.

Not a great video to show how bad it sounds but maybe give you an idea. Makes a bad "echoing sound" hard to describe but it's the worst sounding v8 I have had by far and I believe its because they are on seperate banks with no cats. I think high flow cats and an x-pipe will solve it.

I have had MANY v8's. My signature is only about half of the cars I have owned lol. Never have I had one sound this bad. Actually all my cars have sounded perfect after slight changes like this. It's something to do with no cats and the duals. The noise is being caused by exhaust gases running into each other from my research.

I know it's hard to imagine a bad sounding v8 but trust me these one at the moment sounds terrible. I know I will get it sorted out though.

Put the stock H back on, resonators, and some NPP mufflers. Basically a cutback NPP system.

I've had a gazillion different exhaust set ups on LS motors. LT Headers, H and LS3 resonators, and NPPs by far my favorite sound. Also loved ARH's complete system, but droned like a mother. NPP's nice sound open, and no drone.

The problems is you took out the resonator and the H. The resonators kill the high pith frequency and the H balances the flow. You went redneck true duals. The only thing that is good for is the bubba pickups.

Not a fan of the raspy X's, I like the deeper sound of and H with resonators.
