What's the reason for the extended tip on FIC 1200 Injectors

So got my Fuel injector clinic 1200cc injectors today. They have a long tip that will extend into my air stream. Anyone running these?

Thanks

I've been wondering this also. I'm out of fuel injector and need to upgrade. These are fairly priced.

Kinda getting off topic here, but do Bosch injectors come with E38 specific injector data?

Because I will never run injectors without good data, again. ID's, FIC, and Deatschwerks all have good data for our ecm's.

Also, isn't there a limit to the injector size in our ECM? No way am I going to scale every freaking table that has to deal with airflow just to save on injectors, especially if they dont have data. I've had my nightmares with that. I'd rather pay for good data.

Kind of a general statement. Bosch makes many parts, and some of them may be OEM in our cars, but never seen a Bosch 210b/hr injectors come stock in a camaro with E38 ECM, so unless you can find the fuel injector data that makes them run perfect in our E38 ECM, it doesn't matter who makes them. They will run like shit.

If that data existed and these injectors were plug and play, who would need Injector Dynamics??

Getting back to the topic, does anyone actually know why they have an extended tip?

Because Bosch make them that way for the application they were intended for. And perhaps with a small body, there is only so much room to include the pintle/tip/magnet/actuator etc etc inside the main body

But a lot of modern intake manifolds or whatever these days, you probably cannot get the injector in close enough to the actual port runner for effective spray/atomisation with the tip pulled right back as per older injectors.

I believe the extended tip is to clear the supercharger on LSA applications. That's why certain ID injectors require a spacer for use in LSA cars.
