should I delete the resonator and insert X pipes

I have SLP IIs and will be adding vararam's CAI soon and headers later but I think the resonator is hendering my SS true deep sound. What pipes should I insert if I decide to take the resonator off?

thnks

Two things will happen if you remove the resonator from your car one is it will get louder and two you will pic up some HP on the car.

Resonators are installed to reduce sound, especially DRONE. The biggest problem with a straight through system is not only volume but drone on the highway. Too big of a resonator, Too quite of an exhaust.

I spent a few days with SOLO performance up in Canada last week and got a major education in exhaust. The owner had such a hard time with most of the large brands, in that each brand had a particular problem. These guys are the installers of only exhausts so they would call the company with ideas (say Borla) and they would be like, yea, yea, i will pass that along, and nothing changes. Remember the big companies do not have face time with the end users, they do not install. Yet day in and day out SOLO was forced to answer problems and questions like yours, so they decided to design and build their own.

In my car right now is a SOLO PERFORMANCE X-Pipe Resonator called the MACH X. It is a large resonator with specially shaped X pipes in it. Those X-Pipes have specially sized louvers leading to 4 individual chamber (only one of its kind) and those chambers are packed with a custom designed Steel Wool and Ceramic MESH. After that resonator is straight pipe out the back. There is ZERO drone on the highway, it burbles nice when you let off the gas, and it screams like a lion on the kill when you get on it. The flow is so good through this system that the pipes bronzed all the way back to the tips in the first hundred miles. So you can tell the exhaust and heat is getting all the way back and out. I had over 1200 miles n the factory exhaust and the pipes never bronzed past those front resonators. It is all about the flow!

Sorry to be so long winded, I am loving my new system and want to share with you guys, SOLO deserves all the credit they can get.

If you are interested you can read about what I learned here:

I hope this helps you some.

3 things.... you will hear AFM something fierce... Read Post #17

Xmicro is right on... I wish my Corsa system was louder... it comes with X-pipe/resonator... but there is a reason for it.

If you want to go without resonator then tune out AFM...
