iPod indexing to mylink hanging itunes 12.7

Using an ipod mini and iTunes 12.7.
It hangs on indexing.
The playlist shows the song name, artist, and album info when I look at it in itunes.

Do I need to configure the iPod to enable disk usage?

The car has been in the shop for a year getting work done and I seem to have forgotten some of the basic tweaks. (Chemo brain is real and lasts post-chemo, let me tell ya.)
Or this might be weird breakage from the latest OS/iTunes upgrades?

Any info appreciated.

thanks.

I stopped using my iPod because of the endless indexing. Indexing, Indexing, Indexing! I now use just my iPhone and control it from the phone, not through the radio. I can get to my music faster, but it still locks up when indexing. Total PoS! I hate the MyLink. Not only that but the radio tuner is total shit too. My wife even complains about the radio when driving it. Gonna swap it out soon.

To be fair, every time an external device is updated (ie: phone, ipod, etc.) issues seem to occur. Which then require an update to MyLink to fix. And as everyone should know, radio updates aren't high on any manufacturer's todo list....and not nearly as often as devices/phones are updated. Your best option is a USB stick.
