I don't expect to see forged internals on the ZL1 motor like the Shelby motor cuz that would increase the MSRP and if GM does NOT increase the HP/TORQUE of the ZL1 they will want to keep as many competitive advantages as possible against Ford (e.g. PRICE, MRC suspension, Seat Heaters ) I think the SHELBY will cost a bit more than the ZL1 even at MSRP and certainly so once track/performance packages are added

I stand corrected. I was going by what a friend told me....and we all know how that goes.

I would not be surprised at all to see a late announcement of a power bump for 2013 for the ZL1. All it would take is either a tune tweak or smaller pulley.
You're close. The 2001 Z06 had 385hp and the 2002 had 405hp. I remember I waited for all the bru-ha-ha to subside and passed on a 2001 and bought the 2002. Reality is I've driven both years and really see no difference in the cars.
I think this kinda relates to the ZL1 and Chevy has added pressure as the Mustang topped them with 600+hp for 2013. If I'm the boss at Chevy I just might offer a 675hp option to squash the tang!!! But to sit back and not offer a HP bump in 2013 would see weak to me!

I think the bigger picture regarding ZL1 vs the Mustang is more about handeling and user experiance. With a button the ZL1 was engineered to transform but the Mustang requires at least for now a manual adjustment from outside the car.

All that should tell you is that they're clueless.

I would but the ZL1 convertible is a 2013 model.

GM did the same thing with the TBSS's.. The 08's and 09's were said to have 395ish compared to the 400hp for the 06 and 07's and my 08 still managed to click off a 13.5 bone stock, down to the paper filter... I know it's only a couple horses, but the fact that there were changes doesn't always mean 1 model year to the next is going to be drastically better and/or worse..

I'm still praying some financial endeavors come through so I can get a 12' ZL1.. I'd rather not wait to see IF GM is going to make any changes, especially with the MASSIVE changes the Camaro is going to see in a couple years anyways.. Hell, IF there are adjustments made over the next year or so, and those changes are liked.. Then buy that part and swap it in!

Some of the changes made from the 04 GTO to the 05 and even the 06's were subtle.. Of course everyone knows about the LS1 to LS2 changes as well as the visual, but what about the power seat motors being upgraded.. How many knew GM changed that?? LOL!

If they did that the ZL1 would be priced right next to a Nissan GTR or maybe slightly less and nobody would pay $80k+ for a Camaro...(except maybe Jay Leno )

I can't count the number of C5 owners than have we'll more than a buck in their cars. The air is thin up there...

hey you never know. lol somebody paid for the SLP ZL1.

I know its not realistic but it would be awesome if it were to happen.

I hope the C7 will have all those things.

"crazy" is the word. I can run my Boss with and past an M3 on the track, but to be honest to do so I had to increase my bravery level as the car is moving around a lot on the track. I can't imagine trying to outrun a magnetic carpet ride ZL1 in a GT500 in anything but a straight line without it being a real eye widening, white knuckle experience.
