How wide can I go???

Has anyone gone wider than 315/295 on the rears ( I realize the 295 is wider in a Michelin Super Sport)? I have read that people are widening the rim to 11" and putting a 315 on it but could you do a wider tire if you added a spacer? Has anyone done this?
My goal is to put the widest tire on possible, just love the look. Any info appreciated.

315's are as wide as I'd go.

Please don't become one of these guys:

Absolutely not!!! On the 315 vs 295 thread someone put 315's on an 11" rim with a 25mm spacer which gave him more clearance on the inside. I believe that a spacer is unnecessary for the 315's, but having said that it creates more space for a wider tire......I think. His tires looked good by the way as they were nice and flush to the fender, not sticking out lol 😃

I know on the ZL1 11's no spacer is necessary and the 315's fit fine. I guess it all depends on the offset.

Ya, I'm just hoping that someone out there has done this already. I forgot to mention that I would be widening my stock wheels.
