best stock replacement rockers?
After having a ls7 lifter fail in my Thompson motorsports 416 I deceded to go with Johnson 2110 lifters. I have not started working on it yet. Too busy with work.
Motor is only a year old with around 2,000 miles on it. Complete motor and all parts in it were new. It had brand new stock ls3 rockers put in it when built. What is a good replacement rocker? I have prc 260 heads. I know this limits some of my choices as the rocker pedestals are built into the head. I want something as bullet proof as possible. Don't think I want to try any of the trunion upgrades. Going with che/wcch bushings if I stick with stock rockers. But for the price, and a couple of my retainers look like they have made contact with the TI retainers. What is a good aftermarket rocker I can use? I have heard lots of people say it is not if, it is when a aluminum rocker will fail. So I think I want to get some comp ultra pro magnums. I can't see where they offer it for a ls3 in a 1.7 ratio. I only see 1.8 ratio listed. Thank you Jeremy Last edited by badass1000; 01-22-2016 at 12:29 PM. |

Gotta agree with ^. Had stock rockers in my Katach modded LS7, added the trunnion (sp?) upgrade, and didn't have any issues for 25K miles of hard driving....Will probably just do the same when I get around to a cam install on this LS3.

We do stock rockers with trunions upgrades a lot. I have stock rockers in my mid 700whp Camaro.

so if I go with the wcch bushings in stock rockers is their a upgraded or arp bolt to hold the rockers?
The specs I got on the cam are: Thompson motorsports custom ground camshaft for forced induction. .612 .612 236 250 115+4. Brian tooley racing dual valve springs with titanium retainers and new valve seats good to .650 lift. It has Thompson motorsports push rods, Thompson motorsports head studs, and putting it back together with lq9 headgaskets. The lifters are a direct drop in, but the ls7 lifters require .075 pre load. the Johnson 2110 call for .035 preload. So I ordered a push rod checker and will have to order new push rods. Car currently has a 3.25 upper on the ysi. makes 11-12 psi boost. I have a 2.95 I will be putting on. ECS said that should be around 14psi. car currently at 6800 rpm rev limiter. Thinking of raising it to 7,000. Not that I will always run it to 7,000. Just a little higher so I do not hit the rev limiter. thank you |

There's a new bushing kid in town:
http://www.coloradospeed.com/roller-...g-p-42090.html For the price, I thought about removing my needle bearing upgrade and putting these in. But, being as there hasn't been a documented BTR trunion upgrade failure, I'll leave mine be. Oh, stock is also my recommendation. |

Supposedly...according to Brian Tooley's son himself (at LS Fest 2015), the BTR trunnion kit is a comp cams kit that has been taken out of comp packaging and put in a BTR box with bigger snap rings. That's it.
Now, I'd like to hear it from Tooley himself, but I mean interesting info coming from his son, who probably knows just as well!

Replacing the snap ring with a larger one is an improvement as I have seen some with snap ring failures where the bearings are still in tact. Here are a few photo's of some failures, note one in tact except for the snap ring as well as a couple with the bearing cages broken but the bearings still in tact. Personally, I'm done with them.

cool. thank you for the info. A lot cheaper then the wcch option. I believe they are around $430 installed.
So could I use these to get the job done? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sme-906011 I guess I could call and ask Colorado speed. |

I saw this post before I started this thread, but it was never posted who made the bushing kit. Is this a Colorado speed kit?
http://ls1tech.com/forums/generation...rade-help.html I have never called wcch or che, but as far as I know they do not sell a do it yourself kit. |
