Lean Burn through Advanced Ignition Technologies.

As a sign of the times, sanctioning bodies are placing fuel limits & flow rates on some of the major motor racing series, and of course, the engineers are finding ways to make the same amount of power with up to a third less fuel.

It's not a secret anymore that Mercedes & Ferrari (and possibly Renault) are using TJI (Turbulent Jet Ignition) in their F1 engines, and apparently Ferrari are experimenting with what are being called 'Double Anchor Injectors'.

On the horizon could be: HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition).

This video has pretty interesting section on 'Ionization Sensing Ignition' (starting at 1:45).

Some pretty wild stuff going on these days, especially for those of use that used to have to set float levels & point gaps!!!
