That is one of the first things I will do when I get my Camaro. I was already quoted $205.00 to warranty all 4 tires.

There is no proration on this warranty which means that if your tire cannot be repaired it will be replaced down to 3/32" tire tread.

Thats not a bad idea

look for them on ebay. i never buy tires retail. ebay almost always has the best deal. normally a couple hundred cheaper on a tire that expensive.

HP in relation to tire

personally, i wouldn't do a patch job on something that can put 426hp through the drivetrain to the wheels and use the rubber you just patched as a hold out.

Just because ya have 426 hp.. (which has nothing to do with a tire plug-patch) dosent mean as a daily driver ya cant plug-patch the damn tire... c'mon HP is irrelevant
BUT :

I would say if you are dring harder than daily driver, racing, and such.. the safety involved might be better to replace..

but a daily driver ,such as myself, I havent once yet smoked th etires, BUT I know it will..

My 96z with lt1 and add ons could lay a 40 ft patch easy..did it 3 times.. thats it..
Not against fun,, and doing a burn out, I myself dont wanna buy stock in tires...\\
Again 426 HP has not a damn thing to do with the tires.. a 150hp compact could still hit 120-140 mph
what I said above would still apply

A plug or patch isn't going to cause a blowout. Worst case you are looking at a slow leak, and you'd probably know it by now. You made the right choice.

It's a small nail hole not a cut or gash.
The other 3 tires have just as much of a chance of a blowout.

dont want to thread jack
but the tire warranty that people are talking about on here, can you do that anytime before there is a problem with the tires? cause i've got 4200 miles on my car and seriously want to get the warranty if its not too late.

last thing you need is a blowout. there's a reason why they dont recommend them.
So the patch that a certified run-flat center did on my 436 HP Vette isn't sufficient? I'm betting you think twice about that "patch job" when you get a flat. The tire guy "down the street" wouldn't do a patch job if he thought it would fail...as he would be liable if it were proven he didn't follow the manufacturer specs. My guess is the tech at the GM shop didn't want the potential liability because he realized how anal some people are about these cars.

People have been patching tires for years. An inch from the sidewall...very doable and very practical to do. I've patched tires on cars from 150hp to 600hp. A tire is a tire. We aren't talking a top-fuel drag car here. If tire patches were inherently dangerous or risky, do you think the NHTSA would allow them to be used?

To the OP...don't listen to the naysayers. My guess is you'll get the full life out of that tire. I had the same thing happen on a brand new set of tires on my last Vette (granted it was "only" a 350 hp LS1) and I put nearly 60k on those tires before they were worn out. It never blew out, never damaged the car, never had anyone accuse me of being "cheap" either.
