hood heat extractor

I am considering cutting a hood vent in my car. I like the look of them but am admittedly scared of it because it is such a permanent mod. Everything else I have done can be undone, wheels, stripes, interior paint (plastidip) and sill plates can easily be undone if I wanted............ but there is no going back from a hole in the hood. While I like it I also don't want to do it just to do it if that makes sense.

So my question is this does anyone have pics of a yellow Camaro with rally stripes and the single vent in the center of the hood? I tried Google and searching on here but could not find a pic of a car like mine with one which just makes me think even more it will not look right with the rally stripes.

Better be careful about modifying that factory hood... the purist will say it was engineered without one for a reason and you will mess up the down force, cooling, etc.

Have you looked into Hex Vents? I had those installed on my Rally Yellow SS w/stripes.

It definitely improves cooling, the heat pours out

Don't be scared it's just a little hole

I think I'd keep the original hood stock and cut up an aftermarket one to put the vents into.

You just need massive balls of steel to cut that little hole.

If you have no plans of taking your car to the track and really running it hard at high speed then it's just a matter of looks and taste.

However, there's a reason that GM started adding the vents to all SS's and the ZL1s. Heat can be a problem and front end lift on the fifth gens is very real above 100mph!

If you want to talk about guts, this guy had an additional vent installed on his brand new 6th gen and while I don't know if the owner plans on tracking it, I think it looks great and definitely functional!

This one was manufactured locally and it is made from aluminum. NOT plastic!

I like those. And they would help with heat soak at the track. Where did you purchase those?

I am considering this too, but it is getting the measurements right and everything straight that worries me.
