Which gear for dyno tune?

When doing a dyno tune, 6l80e transmission, does it make a difference if the Camaro is in 4th of 5th gear?

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

That's what I thought, what happens if the dyno tune is in 5th gear?

its reading will be off. Some one on here said there shop accidentally dynoed his car in 3rd and it read low. So in 5th it will probably read high.

from my experiance dynoing different things, the gear dosnt matter. the reason they do it where it its 1-1 is so it gives a good run with less chance of the tires slipping on the drum and a smother run. the reason to not run it in 5 of 6 is just because of the speed it would have to spin the drum up too.

I know on our dyno here that runs I. different gears are normally within a few hp/tq. it can Chang that much with just the air quality in the room, engine temp, ect. same goes for an auto car, reads the same. also goes for when you change rear gears, you still get the same hp/tq reading.

the way out dyno (dyno jet) works is it figures out tq by figuring out how fast the from is accelerating (using rpm change) which gives you the tq. with the tq reading and the rpm reading it can calculate hp for any give. RPM.

Thank you, what kinds of DA do you typically get during summer?

I'm sorry, but there is no 1:1 in the 6L80.

exact 1:1 dosnt matter. what matters is the RPM of the motor because that is used to figure how fast the dyno is accelerating.

our DA sucks up here. out elevation is about 3200 feet and the da can be anywhere from 4000-6000 depending on the different days out at the drag strip.

You use the closest gear to 1:1 which is 4th. My guy dyno's my car in 3rd gear(6L80) because of the high mph on the dyno. That is ok with me as along as I know about it and he does it every time. I just want to see the hp changes with the mods I do.
