I've lost both thumbnails to similar sorts of things, many years ago. It's easy to get a digit stuck in a door when you're paying attention to other things.

Thankfully the lesson stuck the second time. It hurts a surprising amount.

I closed the door on my thumb with the outer edge of the door before. Happened at a gas station so I had to play it off.

It looks like a chunk will fall out as it heals but it isn't too bad. Don't try this at home!
