Update - New order placed with JoeMClassic - Gave up the R6P fight for MSRP...

UPDATE 6-8-09 - 6:50p.m. - Placed a new order with JoeMClassic today to start my quest over again. I am now starting over, even changed my color!!! Thanks to all of you that tried to help me get #2386, but it just wasn't meant to be I suppose. I am so excited about my new dealer, I know I am going to be treated right, and that when the car comes in I will be treated fairly.

Part of original post that was updated previously is below...

Got deposit back today. Some of you read the post below giving some of the details, and the end result was "I was playing games" with them, because of the post I made below. They sent it to me fedex, so I now am no longer a "PRE"-order, I start the process over and now will be classified as a "RE"-order. I lost my low VIN 2386, and i lost the delivery that should probably take place sometime next week. I will update who I order from and all the exciting details. I know they may not be quite so amazing to you... But I will feel better from the beginning because I will be working with a "GOOD" dealer. That will be a wonderful change for me. For all of you that tried to help me out, I truly appreciate your warm thoughts, your tough thoughts (for the dealer), and most of all your sincere concern for a fellow R6P member that has just had the proverbial SHAFT!!! So... Here we go again!!!

Bummer. So far my dealer hasn't pulled the market adjustment thing with the 2 they've delivered so far. If that were to happen to me I'd do exactly what you would do .... walk.

Good luck to you.

Paul

Is it all my fault for not being able to get something in writing in the first place?
Anyone else without something in writing worried about their dealer doing this?
How many of you have had this happen and were able to get the price back to MSRP, and how did you make it happen?

No, I will not pay more than MSRP. If I cannot win this battle, I will win the war because I will walk away
Firstmate, you did nothing wrong...you were deceived by a GM marketing "pre-order" gimmick. I appaud you for standing your ground...be prepared to walk.

I should find out in about 2 weeks. I have nothing in writing either but have been dealing with my dealer for 25 years. I will not pay over MSRP either. I will keep everyone posted.

I was wondering if you are in the process of ordering and ask your dealer to put it in writing that you want the car at msrp and they don't want to do it then what?
I assume you just walk out. lol.

Thanks for your support, and I will definitely update when I get the reply. Possibly it has something to do with being in a "big" city, not sure.

If it cannot be turned around to MSRP, then I will post all details and ask for the emails and/or phone calls to commence.

You are all great and I appreciate it!!!

Getting Jacked!

Same here but only 2K over MSRP. I informed the dealer in writing to go jump but they started the song and dance about the 5% penalty for cancelling blah, blah, blah…. Now the Gen Mgr is involved and claiming they’ll have trouble reselling the car because the options might not be right for the buyer (how’s that for a hot steaming load of So they have my 2K deposit and it looks like I’ll have to fight for it, any suggestions or strategy??

The good news, found a good dealer in small town north of me, guess what……. MSRP deal in writing! So is crazy as it sounds, I signed up with them and now I officially have twins on order. First order 2/26/09 @ 1100 of course, 2nd order 5/21/09 @1100, let’s see who’s born first.

Good luck with your deal!

GMS for me thru Buff Whelan...............fantastic dealer. even offered me simular car that someone backed out of for MSRP.

College Chevy in Albion, MI also had mine sitting on showroom floor and gave me GMS!

two proven stand up dealers! also, Scotty at Newman and Eric at Classic don't pull that shady crap either!

there are usually some threads named "check your orders" or something like that. dealers like Scotty and Eric will pop in there and post what they see from time to time when they have a chance.

post in there and keep checking it, it may take a few days - they're busy ya know...............so don't keep buggin em'!

also, i'd trust your dealer..........he's your single best source! Buff Whelan checks the camaro workbenches every morning and emails any changes to the customer.

ask your dealer if he can check every Tuesday (when things usually change) and email ya the results.

Mall Chevy in Cherry Hill, NJ ordered cars for customers then gave them the 1-2 fake out with $4k over MSRP, now they are selling his car for $8k over, I went to wheel and deal they didn't want to go any lower at $3500 over
Screw "Mall Chevy", and all those low life dealers at a time when GM needs more customer service and customer retention
