Ya if we had the unlimited fund guarantee for this that'd be a possibility but i don't see that happening eventhough watching mlee stress himself out so bad he go's bananas would be ironic.

I'm all for going back to Bowling Green. Plenty of stuff to do and most of it close to the host hotels.

The track prep was bad on Friday morning, but I understand having to balance prep time with getting cars on track since we started so late. The problem got resolved so I don't see that as a reason not to go back.

I'd bet the mods would be happy to go back since it should make their planning work a lot easier. There is a good reason why most big meets are held in the same place year after year.

On the other hand having it 2,000+ miles away would give me a reason to put those miles on the car doing the Power Tour instead.

When I left the fest I drove straight to the beach. Exactly 500 miles from hotel to hotel, found that funny.

Bowling Green and Indy is nice but the west coast guys have been totally getting screwed. We did Indy twice in a row and Valdosta and now Bowling Green. Even Houston was a haul for those guys.

You know we could have it in Fontana and someone in the west would say it's a haul like you pointed out houston was a haul for even people in the west. I think the main things outside desire to do things out west is the cost and cooperation from the venues. I've had some recent experience in that just in the NorthEast area and some places are just plain unaccomodating and unreasonably priced and others are literally willing to negotiaite because they want you there. I feel for the circle of super mods who ultimately make this decision because regardless of where you stage the fest some will be unhappy. The fact that they request all three events in a reasonable distance from one another is another serious factor aswell. Not many venues can host autox, road race and drag in the same facility area much less town and also have easily accessible hotels.

I used to be in that conversation but have no desire anymore. Too many unhappy people considering nobody is getting paid.

If this were a 'For profit' business venture it would be MUCH easier to make decisions. Go where the money and attendance is best with keeping interest. (ok, maybe not so easy, lol)

We started this for all of us as a forum to be able to get together and hang in person and run the cars. Lot of guys fly in every year. Phoenix was one of, if not THE, best fest.

So if you take a look at this map you can kind of see where the western guys and gals would feel slighted.

I live in Mobile Alabama so I've almost had it the best possible.

I'm for the West as well. I know its more expensive in Cali but Nevada or even the North West would be cool. Its difficult to have the Fest outside of the May-August timeframe because a lot of us have kids in school. While they might not come with us, it makes it easier to stash them somewhere while we attend the Fest. Oh I don't care about the distance. I look at it as an excuse to drive the car and a vacation.

It's going to be tough to replace Bowling Green with a different location. Not many places have a drag strip, road course, auto-x, hotels, restaurants, etc.. all at affordable pricing. Plus, there are loads of things for the family in that area too. The weather is another factor... can't have Camaro Fest in the middle of the desert in August. Bowling Green is almost the perfect venue for something like a Camaro Fest.

Lets not. It was ok but I'd rather do BG again over Indy.
