I'm getting mixed reviews. Main use will be 1/4 mi. Won't just be cruising around the highway and such. Not aware of a bias ply front 7" wide or so that can support the weight. I have a 1.25" lowered 2013 Zl1 6spd.

No. Just stop even thinking about it. Not only is it extremely dangerous on the track, but the idea that you're even considering driving in public with it is maddening. Do not do this.

Unless your goal is to go 0-60-wall, I'd highly recommend against it.

Right..... Bc the front end has so much weight on it in the first 60ft??

So with the input who has an alternative. I want bias ply for the manual trans and there isn't a bias ply tire that can handle the weight up front that I'm aware of.

Go with the radials, with current rubber compounds and proper air pressure, they will stick better, last longer, and carry the load better than any bias ply.

Have you checked out Mickey Thompson Sportsman or ET fronts? The make a few in the 7 in width range bias plys. I run the Sportsman on the front of my 69, and to say it's heavy up front is an understatement.

Ive looked and have not found a 6-7" wide bias ply on a 17" wheel. Mt front's bias ply are only 4" wide and the 28/6/17 is a radial.

Have you considered using a tire like a pro bracket radial as your drive tire? They have worked quite well for for me in your stated application.

Oh, okay, I missed the 17" part. Sorry about that. This one is the closest MT bias 17" I saw but it's not as wide as you were looking. The section width is 5.8" with a 4.5" tread on a 3.5" wheel. Would be a little wider on 4" wheel but still short of 6". I'm running 15's, so I was able to get 7.5" MT bias tire.

OP: Why are you intent on using a bias ply tire? What is your reasoning for being so against using a radial on the rear? The current group of drag radials are absolutely phenomenal. Are you just worried you are going to break shit with a stick? That's the only thing I can think of and I, frankly, wouldn't be worried about that unless your build is insane (where you'd probably break shit anyway).

And by using a radial, you also won't go wall when your car starts walking towards either side of the track at speed (which, invariably, will happen when you mix tires).

Right. To me, if you can fit a 15" wheel, go with the Pro Bracket Radial. If not, go with a 17" ET Street R (probably the best or one of the best street legal drag tires on the market right now).
