Unless your goal is to go 0-60-wall, I'd highly recommend against it.

So with the input who has an alternative. I want bias ply for the manual trans and there isn't a bias ply tire that can handle the weight up front that I'm aware of. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk |

Go with the radials, with current rubber compounds and proper air pressure, they will stick better, last longer, and carry the load better than any bias ply.

Have you checked out Mickey Thompson Sportsman or ET fronts? The make a few in the 7 in width range bias plys. I run the Sportsman on the front of my 69, and to say it's heavy up front is an understatement.

Have you considered using a tire like a pro bracket radial as your drive tire? They have worked quite well for for me in your stated application.

OP: Why are you intent on using a bias ply tire? What is your reasoning for being so against using a radial on the rear? The current group of drag radials are absolutely phenomenal. Are you just worried you are going to break shit with a stick? That's the only thing I can think of and I, frankly, wouldn't be worried about that unless your build is insane (where you'd probably break shit anyway).
And by using a radial, you also won't go wall when your car starts walking towards either side of the track at speed (which, invariably, will happen when you mix tires).

Right. To me, if you can fit a 15" wheel, go with the Pro Bracket Radial. If not, go with a 17" ET Street R (probably the best or one of the best street legal drag tires on the market right now).
