Took the SS for a drive to the Dragon today

By Dragon I mean The Dragon, see www.tailofthedragon.com for reference. 318 turns in 11 miles. My initial impression is that this car is heavy and it shows up when you push it hard. In normal or anything less than 9/10ths it hides it weight very very well. I only took it to 9/10ths today. A public road is no place to go 10/10ths anyways. That said, GM did a very good job in balancing this car. I really thought it would plow alot more and understeer than it did. The AH in competetive mode is a little bit intrusive for my tastes but as I become more comfortable I'll go off the nanny alltogether. I had my DIC showing tire pressure and it went from 37 at the start to 42 towards the end when I started cooling things off. I do love the deep torque that allows you to steer with the throttle and the car does this very well. I dislike the pedal placement simply because I'm used to a C4 corvette setup that was easy to heel/toe downshift. For reference I've had 2 C4 vettes that I tracked/autox and a string of 4th gens that I autoxed.
Overall I'm very pleased with the way the car performed and with a new set of pedals it'll be better. That, and some really sticky tires

Obligatory pic

last October a small group of us rode the dragon on our way down to hang with MTI, we had a blast running the curves.

I drove the Dragon a couple of months ago. What a rush! I will be going back. Please post about any pedal modifications you do, I'm very interested.

Nice review. I'm going to be driving the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway within the next couple of weeks. I've done the Dragon 4 times on my motorcycle and once in a Chevy Venture. The Venture was the last time. Needless to say I won't have any complaints about handling

I had the opportunity to take my TL through the dragon several years ago. Christmas morning, going from Chattanooga to Raleigh. Not another car on the road. It was a blast! Had the ex-wife and dog flying around the cockpit. Have taken it on bikes several other times, but to much traffic. I gotta get my Vert up there!

+1

I'm in RI for the summer and that would be a great way to spend the afternoons and evenings.

Did anybody else see the pictures of the two V-16 Bugatti Veyrons? The things I would do to spend an hour behind the wheel of one of those girls. Hint: most of these things are illegal in Southern states.
