Question Dog box

So I have my old 6060 sitting here taking up space. Any one in here swap the guts to make it a dog box?
Would be a nice back up incase my th400 goes out.

What is a dog box transmission?
Note that the gears are of the helical variety. This is a dogbox transmission. Note that the gears are straight cut. To shift in a synchromesh transmission, you engage the clutch, and as you shift, the synchros match shaft speed to the shaft with the gear you're about to engage to the output shaft speed.

I think PPG does, but it's pricey.

no synchro/synchromesh. Thicker, stronger teeth. Best for race applications - they need to be shifted fast and hard for optimal performance and reliability. (kind of like my wife)

Lots of info out there to explain the difference better than I can.

Thanks for the information. I've never heard the term before.
