I LOVE my Z as a DD!

Total props to all of you track rats that are using this car for its intended purpose, however, for me it will never see the track......it's my DD (though I work from home part of the time so it's really only a couple of days a week that I drive it to work - 49 miles one way, primarily highway) and I also take it into the canyons for "spirited" drives whenever I get the chance. I've read pretty much every road test for this car and it's clear that it was never intended to be a DD (and of course Chevy definitely built it as a track car), but I have to say that even though the suspension is a bit stiff (I don't think it's harsh), other than that I think it's just fine. It has A/C, Sirius-XM radio, great seats.......I will DD this thing until the wheels fall off!

One thing that's different about this car compared to the other high performance cars I've owned (2014 ZL1 Camaro/2009 ZR1 Corvette)....I just want to go out and drive this thing every day. Man oh man did Chevy nail whatever "IT" is that gives me such visceral pleasure when doing simple things like taking an onramp to get on the highway. I don't know if it's the way the LS7 makes power, combined with that amazing exhaust note or the way it just sticks to the road like nothing else....or maybe it's even more? Whatever "IT" is, the Z/28 has it! There are so many "The Z/28 is awesome" threads out there and yes, I guess this is another one. I sat on the sidelines for a couple of years thinking about the Z/28, wanting one, reading about this thing and now I just couldn't be more thrilled to finally own one. Thank you Chevy for building this car.......this crazy, amazing, makes you feel like a kid again car!

Well said and agree! I drive it 2-3x to work weekly and absolutely love the stiff yet hunkered down, split-second suppleness of the suspension.

When researching the Z/28, I couldn't find a single negative article/review. I kept putting-off buying one thinking 'there is no way it can be that good'...boy was I wrong.

Also, I think the 427 belongs in the Z/28 as much, or more-so, than in the C6 Z06. The 427 syncs-up better with the Z/28's transmission and gear ratios - I qualify to say this as I put over 10,000 miles on a 2011 Carbon Edition Z06 that I owned for three years.

GM definitely nailed it with the Z/28.

I think the Z/28 is one of the best driver's cars ever made. It is quite the shame that some people think that it is only good on a track. I think it is a great street car! ~17000 miles on mine.

minus the Trofeos, I would imagine the car is much more pleasurable to drive on the street. I enjoy the car with the stock LS7 much more than modded (age). I need an extra set of wheels with Michelin Pilot Sports or equivalent to feel the street prowess. The Trofeos are great on track for sure.

I have MPSS on mine (305 fronts 325 rears) and I am really happy. My car has some stereo weight in the back though... I wouldn't say everyone needs rear 325s.

If I drove my car less I would try R888s.

I agree completely - this car is beyond amazing and for me it is definitely the gnarly LS7 most of all.

Definitely an incredible package all the way around.

I feel the same way! When I bought my car it still had the factory Trofeo's on it with 1400 miles on the clock. The tires had some cracks on the outside and since my car will only do very limited track days I replaced my tires. I decided on the Hankook V12 that are currently on my factory wheel. I absolutely love these tires so far for street use. And I ordered another set of wheels and tires with Michelin MPSS in factory size which haven't arrived yet. I did save my Trofeo's but probably won't ever re-install them.

I also ordered all of the trunk pieces from GM parts direct and now my trunk has all of the parts that were missing due to weight savings. Like I said my car will not see the track very often so these additions were more important to me than the little bit of weight that were saved by deleting them.

while I dont use the Z as a DD, I always love a sunny day > as I'll sometimes do one LS7 or the other...

But when I'm in the Z/28; theres no more fun in Tulsa than taking the 360 degree turn from I 44 onto 51/64 east towards Broken Arrow (and home for me)...once you clear the idiots that dont know how to merge...

You hit the turn, its always fun to see how fast you can go...in my old 3000GT - 38 to 40, in the Focus ST..42, in the Z- close to 50 mph..then the merge as you accelerate through the slow pokes>> and if you hit it just right you get to catapult down the road about a 1/4 mile into the traffic breaks moving to the right to use the lane where everyone is gettig off; so you can make quick pass of about 3 mies of cattle sitting there in bumper to bumper.

Alas then the fun ends, There are two red hot Z's in Tulsa, so I could just see some Dudley Do-Right saying- "Officer I didnt get the license plate, but it was a red Z/28"...arghhh!! that means it's either kevin or me in Tulsa (We have 2 red, 2 black 1 ashen gray); I'm not sure where the other black (Classic Chevy), or summit white (Keystone Chevy) went. If they're still here..then we have 7 in town.

All that said, the Z06 will do the turn as fast too, but it just doesnt have the nasty I'll punch you in the face attitude of the Z/28. You just have to love a 427 in a Camaro...and its a small exclusive club too.

I've thought about doing 325's front and 345's inthe rear. The only isue would be adding an extra 1 to 2" in width to the rims (Eric Vaughn Machine Shop in California- thats his specialty..)

The 345's on my Z06 look just frigging awesome from the rear.

The only issue - so says our friend JusticePete is that the staggered setup will induce understeer.

Let me know how the 345's go. My son has them on his '02 Viper and I love that look.

I have the exact same setup on mine. Glad Chevy decided to keep the back rims a half inch wider to accommodate the bigger rears. As you all know the stock Trofeos are super wide, and most other 305s aren't as wide. But the MPSSs being a little wider makes it look that much more awesome. Also, and this is a tangent.......IMHO the Z/28 rims are THE best looking stock rims on the planet!
