2010 SS may be the least collectible, given the unusual V8 to V6 ratio the 2010 model year had. More V8s in 2010 than any other model year.
Ultimately, the 2010 Camaro will be about as collectible as the 2005 Mustang, or Chrysler PT Cruiser will be....not very. The ZL1 may be a different story....in 30 or 40 years. Nothing produced in large numbers will turn into something you'll cash in on. Everything eventually reaches an age where it might start to go up in value, but only rare, low volume stuff (in pristine, rarely driven condition) brings the kind of money one normally thinks of when using the term "collectibility."

The zl1 or copo may be collectible down the road, 20 or 30 yrs from now.
But if you wait that long, it's a terrible financial investment on your return. Look at a mid year vette, they are a good buck to acquire, but if you invested that money back then, you would have a LOT more $ than the car is worth today. |

Plus, in order to make it worth more IMO you will have to keep it stock or be able to change it back to fully stock form. It seems like they ('67 - '69) pull the most at auctions like Barrett Jackson.....Unless its a special edition like a COPO, Yenko, or other high end racing modifier.

2010 LS in Aqua Blue Metallic? one of less than 300? Isn't THAT considered Classic and collectible?

IMO its too way early to tell...So far, with the 10's, 11's, 12's having the same basic body style, it really depends on how many more years this gen continues to look the "same", before they are considered "collectible"...First year and last year always seem to do better as far as collectable. First year is already out there...last year??

I think as a general rule the most collectable will be the last year of the body style (before gen 6 comes out) and the top model of what ever that year is.

Drive the wheels off of your 2010. The new features are cool, but IMO not worth turning over an entire 2-3 year old car just to get them.
There are simply too many 5th gen Camaros for them to ever be collectable in the first few model years, period. You may have a chance in 40 years if you stuff one from a dealer lot (read: never driven) into a shipping container full of packing peanuts, but you've got to store and take care of the vehicle for the next 40 years, and there's a chance that the value will only keep up with inflation. |

I think ZL1 001 and that Camaro 001 are going to be(already probably) worth tons. Other than that, as a guess, the 45th anni will be worth a lot in 20 to 30 years with no mileage on it.

My '97 Camaro was a great example. Medium Quasar Blue metallic was a color that officially cancelled for the '97 Model year, but it made it on a handful of late '96-build cars. My car came in that color. '97 Was also a changeover year for the updated interior. All '97's had the new interior, but just a few were built with analog odometer with orange-needled gauges. Mine had an analog odo and orange gauge needles. The car also had a really rare option group (manual locks, windows, 5-speed) but it had fog lamps, cruise, and the Monsoon stereo, A/C, and alloy wheels. Plus the '97-only embroidered "30th" interior. The color and analog odometer caused the dealer on multiple occasions to ask if I had the car repainted or had fiddled with the odometer, in fact, when I went to buy touch up paint, the guy flat out told me my car had been custom painted. I had to walk him out to the car, pull up some of the carpet in the rear where the car wasn't quite painted over the factory body seam sealer, and also show him the paint code on the door jamb. The car isn't worth a penny more than any other '97 Camaro in good shape, certainly not with thousands of daily-driver miles on it. |

I don't see many people chomping at the bit to buy V6 Camaros and Mustangs from the 60's. Can't imagine too many people will be paying top dollar for a 2010 LS in 40 years regardless of color. If these cars even last that long. Cars aren't built like they used to be, those solid steel classics have more staying power.

I believe they will have a decent corner in the marketplace in about 30 years, but mainly for highly optioned cars with the V8s that are well kept. Other than that, it will likely be a wash like the 80's. The only reason I say this is the fact we fell into a very muscle-hungry time span where we have high hp numbers like the sixties and very early seventies, but we also found high production numbers like the eighties and nineties. I guess it will all depend on the survivability of the cars produced in the end.
It will also really depend on if the next gen is popular or a dog. Pick your poison on that one, would you rather be a Camaro fan and want to love the next gen or want to see your gen 5 become a popular era car because the next one is a flop?
