I just don't have room in my schedule to drive back and forth to wichita or kc for a car club, but there hasn't been enough interest in this to really make it worthwhile.

First off, I think it is great that you are looking for this. What kind of club are you looking to start up? Are you just wanting a name that a bunch of people can meet under, or are you looking for something a bit more structured?
I helped start up Heartland Camaros here in Wichita a couple years ago. We began meeting after meeting on this forum and it just grew from there. I can tell you that it is a lot of work to start something from scratch. We started Heartland Camaros because we enjoyed meeting, hanging out, doing shows & events, and helping each other out. We also wanted to help give back to the community here in Wichita. For this reason we have annual dues, raise money through events, and we give back to charities at the end of the year. We also are expanding with chapters that will do things in their own hometown areas. Then there are our friends to the south, OK Camaros. They went another route and have no dues. They organize events throughout the year to hang out and do things. They serve their community through events that help raise money or awareness. They do a great job down there as well. Just a couple ideas to throw at you. If you need any help at all starting your own thing, please feel free to holler at me. I would be more than willing to answer any questions I can. Whatever you end up doing, maybe we will meet up at an event sometime.

I'd be interested, living in Manhattan but deploying soon so might not make the first few depending on when this takes off.

I am not really sure which way to go with the dues and all of that, having never done this I don't really see the need for dues, but I do see the possibility of unforeseen expenses. I would definitely welcome your help on that. I would like to meet casually and then meet up for local charity drives and shows as well. |

We should get messages out to anyone interested and have a meet up at the expo center and figure out if we can make this happen.

I will be up at the KS Expocenter at around 2PM next Sunday, if anyone would like to meet up and go over ideas that will be a good time to do it. I am also going to be printing up some fliers to post in a few auto related places here in town. I am looking to get a chapter of Heartland Camaro's started up here in Topeka, so full disclosure there will be a nominal dues fee at some point.
You can call or text me at 785-215-4544 to RSVP |
