That chart can mislead, as ANY customer complaint is included even if not duplicated/confirmed.

Older 3.6's due have an issue with timing chains, between 60-100k, most will wear the guides or chain enough to set a code. Oil changes and oil levels are critical on these motors. Price in our shop runs $1400-2200 depending on model.

2011 3.6L LS

JUST READ THE THREAT, I REPORTED MY TIMING CHAIN FAILURE TO THE U.S. DOT NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION, JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS SO WE CAN ACTUALLY GET A RECALL GOING SINCE IT HAPPENS TO A LOT MORE 3.6L'S THAN I THOUGHT. ONLY HAD 78,000 MILES ON IT AND I NEED MY ENTIRE ENGINE REPLACED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OR WARNING SIGNS CAUSED IT TO HAPPEN, OIL CHANGED REGULARLY, AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE.

Wow, thats BS.
78,000 miles on a modern car is inexcusable.

2012 3.6l camaro engine locked up

I have an engine that you can turn the crank shaft like 1/4th of a turn then stops and won't go any further. I removed valve covers, and oil pan and nothing seems to be broken or messed up then I pulled timing cover off and still unsure why crank doesn't move. If you have any idea on how to help me please do. (Motor has 101,000 miles on it?

Curious for some more info. Spark plugs removed when attempting to crank by hand? What problem were you having prior to your trouble shooting attempts? Auto or manual trans? Hate to ask a silly question but if you're manual trans is it in neutral?

Sounding a lot like a seized piston.

This could be a little tough to figure out but it can be done. 1st thing I would do either remove the heads OR disassemble the cam-train to close all the valves. Then simply check if the crank turns ok. If it does you know the valve timing was off and a piston was hitting a valve. With the heads off all this will be much easier to check out. Most likely some of the valves will be bent and need repair or buy used heads off of fleabay. Then replace and time the timing chains and you'll be cruizin again.

I've had a 1981 Fiat Spyder that was More dependable than the V6 Camaro
The only reason I don't have it was some one totaled the car
Right now the Camaro is in the front yard as an ornament.

Do yourself a Favor Do not buy this piece of Trash, Buy you a Ford
At least they will look good sitting in the Yard

I would guess he's gonna continue to keep driving it like he stole it and replace whatever falls off.

Mmm, nice shiny red in just the right light.
Yep, I can relate.

My wifes v6 Camaro has over 130k and runs like new never touched a thing except spark plugs. It is well maintained and thats the secret to keeping any car. Neighbor has a v6 with over 100k and he beats the crap out of it the only trouble hes has was the AC compressor. I see used ones all the time with 150k plus miles on them for sale. I think the early v6 Camaros with the LLT engine were more prone the troubles but I wouldn't call them trash. I've read plenty of hard luck stories with v8 too, I often wonder when I read it just blew up what really happened.
