Question on cat delete

I was thinking of doing a cat delete on my v6 camaro, anybody know if the check engine light goes on? If it does what can i do to remove it?

Ive heard some people say you need to get a tune but im not sure what they mean and who would beable to do it.

Also if anybody has a video of there v6 with a cat delete please post because im trying to hear what it sounds like.

Thank you so much!!

It’s going to cause a CEL for sure. Only way to get rid of it is a tune

You can do it yourself if you get a portable tuner. If I were you I would look around for good shops to tune it. Or you can have someone on here do a custom tune and send it to you via email.

On these cars it's not so much a delete as it is a replacement.
It's not like on the older cars where you are taking a hacksaw to your exhaust and cutting the cats out and then straight piping it. These cars have the cats integrated into the downpipe of the exhaust manifold.

So your choices on a 2010 LLT V6 are going to be limited to long tube headers, short tube headers, catless mid pipes, or high flow catted mid pipes.

Sorry if you already know all of this, but we have no idea what your knowledge of the platform is, so I figured I would put that out there. Either way, it's going to cost you some money.
Your best bet is to start by heading to youtube and searching for cat deleted V6 Camaros and then decide your budget and if you are just looking for sound or both sound and power.

What is your goal with this?

If you’re only going for sound then the shorty headers are the cheaper option, but long tube headers come with alottt more gains

What kind of sound are you looking for? In my experience just removing the cats does not make it sound better, it makes it sound very raspy and harsh, you need a nice sounding muffler to go with cat deletes. It all depends what you want, but definitely check YouTube!!

1st Harry its illegal to remove cats completely, a shop doing so can be fined 10k per car and many would not do it...especially major chains know not to do it. And a high flow cat is the way most go with shorty headers for the V-6 especially your year the early years of the v-6 had separate head and exhaust manifolds compared to newer v-6 so it makes it easier to make a little more power with some high flow cats to keep the rasp down. A properly done set up also may not throw a code BTW..... SO speak to these guys they are the ones the guys use and have used in the past...…

https://solo-performance.com/ or you can buy a tuner for about 400$ for a sxt say from someone like Jannetty racing who can preload tunes into it for free if you buy the parts from them..... and then you have this tuner which is ok for showing OBD 2 codes but basically is a expensive brick especially for someone just doing minor upgrades of a v-6. Good Luck, old timer here.
