I sat in a Genesis Coupe today. The window sill was too high, the door armrest was too low, the center armrest was at the right height but was too far back. I would probably be uncomfortable driving it. :(
Hopefully the Camaro is better.

If you think the Genesis' window sill is too high, you're in for a rude awakening in the Camaro.

That is bad news, Camaro interior is much better and I have been in both!

They're cool cars, but the front is ugly as hell.

Lots of fanboy goggles in this thread.
Haven't sat in the Camaro, a looks are subjective, but the Camaro's interior is rather boring. The Genesis isn't a show pony, but it's interior is at LEAST as good as the Camaro's (I say better). As far as resale value, I think you all are going by the "Camaro is a legend!" reasoning. Truth is, while this is the first re-issue of the Camaro, this is the FIRST issue of what is sure to be legendary Genesis Coupe line (much in the way the Z is for Nissan). It has more features, more options and a ridiculously better warranty. I think it'll hold its resale value just fine. And you know how you can tell when a fanboy is threatened by the GC? When they try to "insult" it by saying it looks like a Tiburon or it's a "Tiburon on steroids". You may as well say "I'm scared! Camaro, hold me!" |

yeah i think it looks good. but still its a hyundai and you can't trust korean made vehicals i have heard to many complaints. what i like to say since there is a guy on here who likes mustangs is that there is a nissan 370z with a v6 producing 332hp, a hyundai v6 with 306hp and the camaro v6 putting out 304hp if you want that from a ford mustang you have to buy a v8. which to me sounds kind of weak

Actually, adjusting the seat height might make it work anyway, I should have tried that in the Genesis. I may try to sit in one again, though adjusting the seat height won't help the center armrest that doesn't go far enough forward. Maybe a telescoping steering wheel can help with that, but then I might not be close enough to the pedals... The Camaro may fit me better.

From whom did you hear they're poor quality? Other internet posters whose grandmother owns one? I'm the not-so-proud owner of a 2001 Hyundai Sonata. 2.4L inline 4 with 135hp. I get better acceleration from my 24 speed Schwinn. It's ugly. It's slow. It handles like a hovercraft because it's so softly sprung. On the plus side, you feel NOTHING. Because it wasn't meant to be a performance car. It has 100,000 miles on it. In 9 years I've been through a timing belt, a broken power window track, a flat tire, and 2 CV axles. One caused by the blowout. I've never even replaced the original brake pads! And you want to tell me it can't be trusted? Who the hell are you? Hyundai, unfortunately, gets a bad rap for being "cheap." Yeah, they're lower priced than most comparable vehicles and so people assume they're crappy. I have a '92 GMC Z-71 with 162,000 miles on it that is meticulously cared for. It's been through 3 CV axles, a transmission, a clutch, a rear end, a water pump, 2 A/C compressors, a condenser, 3 sets of brakes, a transfer case actuator, and a broken radio. At 145,000 miles we dropped in a 350hp crate engine. It now has 162,000 miles total. Which do you think has held up better? You are without a doubt the overly patriotic, uninformed, ignorant, only-do-what-your-friends-think-is-cool kind of internet cowboy that floods forums such as this one. True, you're probably not going to have chicks throwing themselves at you for driving a Hyundai, so if that's what you're worried about you need to go get a Ferrari. The rest of us are wise enough to know a good deal when we see one. In the mean time, let us know how it feels to get your ass kicked in your Scion by all those not-to-be-trusted Korean Genesises. [/End Rant] |

They also get a bad rap from the 1985 Hyundai Excel. People have held that grudge for 24 years...
I just find it funny that GM fans (other than me), knowing about GM's own quality issues from the same era, can accept that GM has picked up their slack but not that Hyundai has improved their quality too.

I rented a new Sonata for a week. It was an outstanding car for what it was. A comfortable people mover. Never judge on reputation alone. I have relatives with Toyotas and Hondas in the shop and others with Hyundais and GM products they never have to think about. Conventional wisdom means nothing in today's market.
