Hood vent looks incredible! What is the advantage of the v-banded down pipes? They are including it with my llt build.

They have 3" piping from the turbo and reduce to 2.5" where it hooks up to your exhaust. The old style is 2.5" all the way from the turbo. Also has a different swing valve housing that I think allows it to open further than the old ones. All that is supposed to help with the boost creep we get.

Plus the V-band connection will make for a good seal. The old set up used three bolts and the metal gasket was a PAIN to get to seal. I was always battling an exhaust leak at those connections.

Free V-band setup, nice!

And I used a 3"x1/16" cutoff wheel in a straight die grinder for the whole thing. Just went slow and took lots of breaks so that I didn't overheat the paint. It worked out pretty well.

I would have no idea. Fair price and body shop aren't usually something I hear in the same sentence.

V-band is a good option for the down pipe. I had it and made the turbos system easy to maintain. Just don't over tighten them as you'll be replacing them as that's where you would develop a exhaust leak at. Only down fall to having them. Car is looking great also!

Thanks, I'm taking the turbo V6 torch that you and Gretchen passed on and I'm running with it!

Maybe I'll be able to get that ever elusive 10 sec pass on a 5th gen V6...

Update: Aaron sent me tracking on my pistons. They're in TX now and should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. I can't believe it's almost February already. I need to hurry up and get this thing together and dialed in or I'm going to miss all the good racing weather here.

You are going the right route with the piston upgrade. You'll be in Gretchen's territory with that upgrade. I didn't go that far because I was happy with 501rwhp lol. I'm loving what I'm seeing from everyone here since I been gone. Keep up the good work!

My pistons came in today, everything looks good so far. I'll have to do a lot of measuring tomorrow and see how the pins fit the rods.

They threw in an extra piston for only $50 which will be nice to have just in case. So that brought it to $1,250 for the set of 7 pistons, and rings, pins, and retainers. That was a little more than I was expecting but they are coated and gas ported so that added to the price.
