Unhappy Why did my 2016 Camaro RS shut off after idling for some time?

I started the car using the push/start button and turned on the AC and left it that way for about more than 20 minutes under the heat of the sun. Then I just suddelnly heard from the inside of the house that the car shut off and so I turned it back on after several minutes and fortunately it started with no warning lights activated and then I just drove off. Was that because of the car's computer trying to protect the engine? Or was the oil pressure to low? I'm really worried about it because it is brand new.

...It operated correctly...
If it was started with remote start...

The engine will continue to run
for 10 minutes. After
30 seconds, repeat the steps
for a 10-minute time extension.
Remote start can be extended
only once.

...from Owners manual page 33..

That is a great feature!

My friend was from Alaska and had an early remote start on a 91 grand am. More than once he sat on his keys in his pocket, hit the button and his car started and didn't shut off till it ran out of gas.

In our apartment complex his car was too far away for him to hear it start.

If started from the dash, it should not be shutting off, unless we have another undocumented "feature" GM has given us......

Sadly I did not use the remote to start and it just died. :(

I wonder if it has anything to do with not having a key? Is there a limit to how long the car will run without a key?

That I do not know. But I was about more than 10 meters away from the car and inside the house with the key attached to my pants.

Maybe this happened with your keys attached to your pants?

Like the OP said, he did start the car from the inside with the push button, therefor, he can not cancel a remote start' as it was not started remotely.

Maybe it has a limit on how long it will run when it doesn't detect the transponder in the "key"?

I realize that this is somewhat off topic, but why on earth would anyone want to let their car sit idling for 20 minutes? I am not sure how well our engine management systems do at idle, but it can't be good for the car.
