there can't be any paint on the surface where the nut mates up. I made that mistake when I painted a set of wheels, after a few laps I felt something wrong and parked it. The paint melts from the heat and the lugs loose their torque.

CRT, do you have any idea of the weight savings with the wheels/tires vs stock? curious what the difference is? also what brakes are you running? Thanks in advance..

Roughly 23lbs saved over the OEM wheels. I have the same set for sale in the classifieds. |

Why sell them? I was told I should have gone with HRE.

As for the lugs getting loose, that happens with every wheel/car I've ever owned after initial torque. It's not uncommon to have to retorque once and sometimes twice after an outing or two. If I was spending HRE money, it would be on Forgelines instead. Their GA1R is on my wish list. |

Hey guys , I recently purchased Forgestars CF5's 19x10 fronts & 19x11 rears with Toyo R888 305/30/19's for tracking . I have it on the 1LE now on the street as long roads are dry . I'll find out in a month when I take it to Roebling Roadway track . However on the roads I felt the steering feel not as tight as the stock G2's 285/35/20's but felt the grip better . It's quicker on acceleration & may have to shift up a gear on the straights for more speed . I'll post how much improvement this set up is after tracking .

R888 don't last long, and lose their traction long before their thread. Did you buy them used? I'd highly recommend getting Nitto NT01s, or street tires like AD08R or Hankopk RS-3s next time.
By the way, 305 is to big for 19x10, actually outside the recommended range, which might add to the vagueness.

Turns out these wheels don't seem to be as advanced as the factory wheels or HREs. I had a wheel and tire expert show me HREs that have cupped inner wheels. Apparently the cupping helps keep the wheel sucked tightly on the car's hub. Also, the aftermarket powder coating was done wrong and the inner wheel ring and lug not holes were covered in powder coat - these should have been metal. Stock 1LE wheels (notice the air channels and venting) CCWs

Z/28 wheels are piece of art. IIRC, Finspeed charges extra $250 for this detail work on their wheels.

Finspeed is a popular forged wheel manufacturer that I've seriously considered before settling on Z/28 wheels. Their base price for wheels is around $800/wheel, which is pretty good for a real forged wheel, but they charge quite a bit for options.

Anyone running 305/35/20s on the track on all four corners?
Thanks. So is it possible to have a wheel repair shop channel the inner wheels?

Btw, is it really a big deal? It's a good way to save weight, but is it really that important for those other benefits? CCW wheels don't fail, at least I don't hear so; why bother? : )

Ok. Good point. I heard this was to secure the wheel to the hub. The more I read about "backpad pocketing" it strikes me this is done to reduce weight. Appreciate your advice. Thanks.
