ZL1 rear cradle differences
Hi, I just bought a 2012 zl1, the car has been curbed and the rear cradle bent. I live up in Canada and am having a hard time finding this part as everyone up here wants a fortune for it, or refuses to ship out of the US. I can find a cradle out of a SS car for 200 cad, but doing the research to see if it fits I find all kinds of conflicting information about it. Some sites say its a bolt in, some say you have to cut and re weld mounts, others say just the bushings are different. So i am wondering if anyone here knows the actual differences between these cradles any help would be appreciated.

I would assume that the rear cradles would be different since the whole rear suspension for a ZL1 is different than an SS.
Different rear end, different axles, etc. But that's just my guess. |

Well I have checked a few things in the computer at a salvage yard, according to the system the outer hub carriers and control arms are the same. Also I have read that GM sells a zl1 rear end upgrade kit for the other models, but have yet to talk to someone who has installed that. Evidently the kit uses the base model carrier.

Check out this thread about swapping a ZL1 rear end into a SS. It should give some good insight and information about what parts are interchangeable.

Look up “ the salvage guys “. They have an eBay store and have locations in both Canada and the US. They have very reasonable prices and if I remember correctly they had a ZL1 complete cradle on eBay.

The part numbers are different but the part includes the bushings which might be the only difference.

Now I checked the price and the LSA part is significantly lower priced than the part for all other Camaros so maybe there is some difference
