Ugh.....I hate cars
So, the wifey and I went out for ice cream last night. It was a nice night so I recommended we take the Camaro. Everything was normal until we came to a stop at a light. I noticed a slight “wine” coming from what sounded like the transmission, I couldn’t tell, at that point, if it was the Trans or the ac compressor. While the car was in neutral, I depressed the clutch and the noise went away.
Upon are journey home, I had a nice stretch of road and opened her up a bit. I rowed through the gears up to 5th and noticed that the “wine” was fairly pronounced, and had a very slight vibration in 5th. Also, when the Trans is cold, it has a very slight grind going into 3rd. No clutch pedal sticking or anything like that Now, I don’t beat on this car and have only ran to red line a hand full of times. Does this sound like the dreaded throw out bearing? The car only has 15,465 miles and I have owned it for ~2months. I have an appointment at the dealer I bought it from on Saturday only because I have a lifetime power train warranty, so it should be covered with no out of pocket money. Next question, if it IS the bearing, is there anything else I should ask them to replace while they are in there? With it being done at the dealer, would it be worth it to see if they would install the bearing support if I flip the bill for that part? Sorry for the somwhat drawn out post but if just so frustrated with any car I buy having issues. My 4th gen Trans Am that I owned for 16y but was only able to be driven for ~5 of them ( that was my fault). Them my 72 Monte Carlo blowing a tire and causing me to do a body on resto to Just 2 months after purchase, never really got to enjoy that car either. I sold that to purchase the Camaro with the impression that it should be a long time before any issues arise with only 14k miles....ugh
