Worried sick...
So as mentioned, car's in the shop!
Quote:
I drop the car off at noon yesterday, right on time... the guys were cool. Told him about my issues, he said no problem they'd look at them and take care of them. Well, I didn't get a call yesterday, so I call them at 6pm yesterday and they said they haven't looked at it... ooookay, they're keeping it overnight. No problem, I'll deal with it.... No call this morning again, so I call them at 9am... my car is next to get checked out.... sooo oooookay, I made an appointment only to continue to wait in line as if I didn't make an appointment. The service guy said he'd check with the tech and call me back in a little while. Soooooo, no call again, I call around 3pm. My service guy was out of the office for a bit and so I spoke to someone else and they said my service guy would call me back. Another hour... now 4pm today, I finally get a call back. He tells me that the issue may be with my wheels... but they're not sure yet. He says the fronts are a bit oval... hmmm... okay, but I got my tire/wheels rebalanced last week. Service guy says, ' you can balance an egg... doesn't mean its round'.... ooookay. So they swap wheel/tires with a stock set to see if it still wobbles... it still wobbles - still not sure. Also, if it still wobbles, WHY DOES IT WOBBLE ONLY ABOVE 40mph??? Now 7pm pac time, and no call back... holy hell, I'm worried sick. These guys must not know Camaro owners... we can't stay apart from our cars for too long before thinking something bad can happen! Am I overreacting?? Tell me I'm overreacting! I want to give these guys good ratings at the end of it all, but Riverside Chevrolet... yer killing me... |

It is pointless to make an appointment at my local dealership. Every time I make one I make it for first thing in the morning and when I show up there is a line of about 20 people already there. They tell me since they were first in line they get seen first. What the h*** is the purpose of making an appointment. They always have to keep it overnight and never get a return call as promised. Sounds like all Chevy dealerships. I went in for a tire rotation and oil change as it was free and I was there for almost 6 hours. That was the last free service I have used from them.

F*&k! I think I've made a horrible mistake. If I don't hear from them by noon. I'm pulling it out! Gauging the mileage... only wish I had installed my dash cam! To top it off... I asked them for a fresh Mobil1 Oil Change... gonna check the level before I get off their lot! |

I hear you about the appointments. The service guy told me it's real purpose is to determine how many cars they are going to take in a particular day. It doesn't really matter with my oil changes since I drop it off, then they shuttle me in the office then I get a ride from a colleague at the end of the day.
I have no input to Spec other than good luck. I hope it all works out. |

You've done all you know to do to fix it and can't...Calling them won't get it fixed any faster. They'll have to go thru a process of elimination. They can't plug into the obdll port and have the cause diagnosed. It sucks but it's not simple. You don't want them throwing parts at it at your expense. It'll be interesting to see what they find. Mine stayed at the dealership for 9 days but when I got it back...it was fixed...They get you fixed. Give them a chance

Damn man, I feel you on this. Even more so knowing how immaculate that car is and how important it is to you.
I had mine at the dealer about 1.5 years ago for what started as a window issue and got worse with weird electrical gremlins. It was there for a week and only got fixed because I (and some Camaro5 members) diagnosed it for them as a broken ground wire. Just keep in mind that right now is a bad time to have the car at a dealership. They are already very far behind at a lot of locations due to the strike. It really upset their supply chain, so this isn't that unusual. There is another guy on this forum dealing with a major engine issue that has been waiting weeks for the dealer to even touch it. But that is another issue entirely, so don't freak out. If you decide to pull it out I would do some research for some seriously competent and highly rated shops near you that specialise in this sort of issue.

I didn't even think about this. I wonder how long it'll take dealers to restock parts now that there's been a tentative deal.

Hopefully they figure your problem out soon. I hate taking my car in anywhere for service. No one seems to know how to lift their feet when they get into a Camaro. They just drag them over the sill and trim. And the hand prints...

Haha, agreed... slept it over... I'm just going to let them do their thing. I guess this whole 'appointment' thing got me going... wondering where they were at with it. Going on 2 days and haven't heard the verdict yet. Can't be that hard to figure out... If I knew it was going to take this long, I would have just waited til Monday to drop it off, since I don't drive it early in the week for work. Then again, the shop here about a block away would have had it fixed by now.......... ah well, ya live ya learn. I'll check in with them later today, but won't push them at this point. Just sucks not having my ride... |

I also stated that I wanted seat covers put on before anyone sat in it with their nasty coveralls. He kept telling me sure, no problem, they always take extra care with customers' nice vehicles blah blah blah We were standing by the open driver's door and literally, as those words were leaving his lips, this large, filthy goon of a tech walks around us and goes to sit in my Camaro to move the car. I grabbed him by the collar before he could sit down and looked at the lead tech and said, "See? This is the shit I'm talking about." |
