Hard to image straight pipe exhaust having no drone

Had B&B bullet system on the vette and the drone would cause a headache reinstalled factory and add cutouts. The car has 2inch ARH's & no cats
Yes, I think you are missing something.....

It was a different car, a different system, with headers and no cats. Not surprised it droned with headers and no cats.

My car still has the factory manifolds and the primary cats. In one of my posts I mention that when I go to headers I'll add the forward resonators to the system.

I've posted that it does not drone and that is after taking my wife for a drive (she did the Flybye video) and running through the gears several times and cruising at several different rpm ranges to see if I could create drone. I couldn't. I know what it is - which, BTW, is the "harmonic resonance" others are talking about not a volume level - as I had it at 1,800 RPM on my 2002 SLP Loudmouth exhaust.

This setup, on my car, does not drone.

If you'd prefer cutouts, on your car, go for it. Cheaper is not necessarily better.

Mine wasn't on the lift any longer and I didn't have any pics at that angle. Given the quality of the system I would have been surprised there was a clearance issue, good to know for sure. Hope you're enjoying your Crush ZLE!
+1.

I've been looking hard at the AWE and BB systems. I received a shipping quote from Phastek today. Gonna pull the trigger soon. I'm torn like an old sweater.

Thanks Todd and Mike for posting pics, sound bites and opinions.

Definitely loving the new ride. Hope to have it back on the dyno in a week or so.

Just go for it. I've been hard core Corsa for year but someone finally topped them. IMO

I think you might be missing my thought on this... Not saying anything bad about this system other than the lack of sound control

Great the system straight pipe more sound with cats installed

Then you install long tubes & cats removed now your installing resonators in the system

My point leave stock system add headers with cat delete car will definitely sound better at that point

And when ready for kill mode you open the cutouts picking up more power
Plus you have sound control

My C5 picks up almost 30hp with cutouts open
for gross hp of 823 out of the LS1 running 10psi
The stock Z06 mufflers keep sounding tame to where I can talk on the phone but opener her up different animal

I am getting mixed signals on if the AWE catback system will work on the A10's for Zl1?

Phastek is telling me yes BUT AWE is telling me go with the Axel back because the A10's have the AFM Values and so they recommend the Axel back system instead? I have heard guys with the A10 are installing the catback with no problems?. It has something to do with the AFM Values.

I did find this:

Fitment Notes:

AWE catback systems WILL FIT Gen6 ZL1 Coupes with the automatic transmission.
AWE catback systems WILL NOT FIT Gen6 SS Coupes with the automatic transmission due to their AFM valves.
AWE catbacks WILL NOT FIT Camaro Convertible models of any type.

Thoughts?

You said A10 and ZL1... ZL1 does not have AFM so yes it will fit.

SS has AFM and yes the system will fit but you will have to have the codes turned off or basically set AFM to off in the tune.

Thx Mlee for the clarification. The smallest details can be a real pain in the A$$.

With that said now I have to make the decision on going with the resonated vs non resonated Touring Catback....

My sound clips should be coming out early next week from Phastek. Our weather has been nothing but rain lately. I went non-resonated but kept the cats and it's pretty aggressive sounding. Hope to get it back on the dyno again next week too so videos from that as well.

I will add, the fit and finish on this system is absolutely perfect.

Yes a lot of rain here in Toronto as well...I was leaning towards the non-resonated as well and keeping the cats in place. Yes fit and finish and sound look to be solid not to mention the I love the beefy Quad Chrome tips.

Look forward to seeing the video clips in a few weeks. BTW you can post your video clip on the AWE site if you want to share the LOVE of your sound...ha ha!

Phastek just did a FB live of the AWE system with sound.

sounds sweet... us Cali guys are literally going the other direction to run on race tracks. I just had Laguna pipes made to make the stock exhaust even quieter.

That's sad......incredible to me that there are sound rules for racetracks.

Perhaps you should consider moving from California to the United States.

Yeah, like Kentucky where there are sound rules at NCM.

But 103db.....right? Not 90db? Hope so as I'd like to drive NCM someday.

I never had any problems with 103db limit (RoadAmerica/Road Atlanta/etc.), even with my FFR GTM with the 675HP, Kooks Headers, No Cats, No resonators.

90db would be a problem, and I think that is the limit at Laguna, correct?
