rocker arm on an angle

is this ok? doesnt look like it. look at the centre of the valve as opposed to the rocker...the tray the rockers sit in looks fine. cranked over the engine a few times and it still sits like this. took it off and reinstalled. same thing

I noticed a few of my rockers slightly off like you show, but, not quite this far off center. Did you try swapping with another rocker? Perhaps this rocker was machined slightly off from the factory? Swapping it with another rocker will help shed some light. Could swap trays too...

Does it have a trunion kit in it? Looks like the rocker bearing is getting ready to fail.

i tried another rocker on there that looked fine from cylinder 3 and it did the same thing. the tray seat does look a little slanted from the factory after eyeing it up for half an hour. im gonna order a tray and see if that helps. yet ANOTHER wrench in the spokes. good grief.

i do have the trunion upgrade but i tried to twist both rockers gently and they are tight.

im worried that at that geometry it would do more damage to the valve/seal or cam/rod than the rocker itself.

If you're willing to pay shipping, I'll send you my stock rocker stands for free.

While your at it, check to see if your geometry is good. Determine if the center tip of the rocker is properly positioned in the middle of the tip of the valve at max lift and if the contact is even.

Is there any visible damage to the rocker stand / tray?

I know nothing about the LS type of engines, though I have 120K on my truck, 30k on my Vette, and 1k on my Camaro.

This I can tell you: The SBC has had crooked rocker arms forever, and ever, yet never caused an issue, even with race engines. I hated that so much I put offset lifters, and offset shaft rockers on my race car engine just so they sit straight!

I'd like to hear from those with experience with these newer engines if GM finally fixed this issue, or it continued.................

The rockers are offset, but the rocker tip should still be centered on the valve.
