I can tell you exactly what will happen. They will tell you all about how their car is more powerful, better looking, cheaper, and has a richer history than the Camaro. During all of this you will sit there looking at the guy wondering how stupid he thinks you are. Then you start to feel bad for him, because it sounds like he actually believes what he's saying.

Now, that is if you're lucky. In all likeliness the salesman you talk to either won't know that the Camaro was greenlit, or that there's even a concept out there touring the country.

I doubt they would know much about the history of any car, from what I've heard about dealers. I just want to hear how a 425 hp Challenger is better than a 430 hp Camaro (assuming LS3). The Ford dealers will be realy great to hear.
"Our car has a horse on the grill"
yes . . . and?
"Well that means it will have horses than the Camaro"

July 08 Release date

Hey guys just got back from the local Chevy dealer, looking at a used Tahoe, and the salesman that I have known for about 4yrs said they expect the first ones in July of 08 and at the latest, the first of August. This guy is pretty respectable so I trust him a good bit. So any of you going with the coupe get your $$$$ ready!!!!!

Ooooo somebody had better delete this post before Dragon or Tag see it. They will not be happy. Please, for the love of God don't open this box again, please.

To get a full idea of how wrong this idea is, please go view the threads on salesmen knowing less than we do, and the countdown to Camaro thread.

Now I'm getting out of here before the shooting starts. [ducks out of the way] :slice:

Are you talking about the camaro? Or a used Tahoe?(rofl) You didn't specify. I think the dodge challenger should be out around that date.

What the salesman meant to say was that he wanted to see you agian in 6 months to try and sell you another vehicle. The Camaro is not going into production until October of next year and NOTHING official has been said to contradict that.

A car dealer is not an official spokes person for General Motors. I would consider a prepared press release, something from Scott (FbodFather), Bob Lutz, etc, as official.

Actually, next week a representative from General Motors is supposed to be giving a guest lecture for one of my engineering courses. I will ask him how long it takes to set up a production line, and if its true that one of the Oshawa plants is being gutted right now. If I get good answers from him, then we will know better what is possible and what is bs. That is, IF I get a good answer from him.

grrrrrrr...... *taking out my gun, and cleaning the barrel*

No reason to destroy him. WE LIKE NEW MEMBERS, remember?

Here's the deal. Just because you trust somebody, and know he's honest, doesn't mean he was lying.<=that goes for everybody: I've heard comments about needing to find a new friend, or having that 'trust' shattered. Not cool. All it meansis that a person was misinformed at some point. Having said that, *puts gun back in holster* no shooting today. But if I have to hear one more freaking thread about a release before the announced dates....AHhhhggg!!!!

I won't revisit this. Friends are people we trust. If my best bud tells me something, I'll believe it because that's what friends do. Unless the friend has an alterior motive. OR...if the friend is just misinformed.

Your friend is misinformed. It's okay. No hating here. But, we talk about this every day. Jan 09...period....or GM is flat out lying to us.

Glad to see that you guys know everything there is to know about the release date. And someone who works for GM and may have more info than anyone here is completely and utterly wrong. I dont know if he knows for sure but that is what he told me, good, bad, right or wrong. If hes wrong then so be it, if hes right then good for us. Just wanted to let yall know what he said. Next time I'll keep my comments to myself.
