Anybody else get just OK fuel mileage with LS3?

I know, this is a stupid topic to discuss for a performance car, but I'm just curious...

I'm getting like 14 mpg on my daily commute...basically a bunch of 50 mph stretches punctuated by a stoplight every mile or two. I haven't done a hard launch yet and have only been above 4000 RPM's a handful of times while driving (taking it easy for 1500 miles). I've always been pretty good with mileage - I coast to red lights if I see they're red, I don't start real hard, etc.

I got excellent mileage on this commute with my LS1 with an air lid and exhaust - way better than EPA numbers. I know they changed the EPA test, but we are doing much better than the numbers in my wifes new Nissan. I reset the thing and took the Camaro on a 100% interstate trip and got 23.5, so not bad, but it has plummetted to 17.2 (didnt reset it) after 8 days of commuting.

Not a big deal, I've driven Camaro's literally everyday for 15 years, so I know what I'm getting, but was still wondering if others were seeing the same...

I'm also averaging aroun 14.6 mpg for an 8 mile one way commute....all stop and go. To be honest, it's what I expected. When I get on the highway, that totally changes and I had an average of 23.7 mpg.

I'm in the same boat. Get pretty bad mileage in stop and go....guess starting up that big boy just takes some extra oomph. Once it gets coasting it's a different story. Around town I get 14.5-15.5. Add in a little highway driving it's around 16.5 to 17. Get it on the highway full time, I can get 23+. Take a look at your average speed too. Mine is like 23 MPH....pretty low average.

My average is 16.2 miles a gallon. My commute one way is 8 miles... about half of which is on the highway. The highway driving is about 45 miles an hour (rush hour). Once or twice a day I take off fairly quickly (keeping rpms below 4).

I absolutely love this car!!!!!!!

I only drive 3.5 miles to work with anywhere from 1-7 lights depending on how lucky I am. And, with a little highway and suburban miles thrown in, I'm averaging 16 or more...

You know, just once I would like to see a thread that doesn't have one single post of negativity.

I'm pretty sure that we're all aware of how much horsepower we have. But that's not the point of the thread now, is it? The OP was asking what our experiences with MPG are.

I'll break it down for you a little further. Camaro5.com is what people call a "forum". This "forum" is a place for people who share a similar interest, (in this case, the Camaro). These people then share their experiences with others regarding these interests for the reason of increasing the individual and collective knowledge base. People are happy and all is good in the land of the internet.

With that being said, patriotpc, do you think that your post is beneficial for the common good of camaro5? My point is, that just because you don't care about the topic is no reason to flame those that do.

Wow, I guess I'm doing pretty good. My wife has been "forced" to drive the Camaro to work, (83 Camaro in repair), about 6 miles round trip. It also gets driven around town occasionally, 35-45 MPH. We're getting 19 MPG at about 1,000 miles on the odometer.

I haven't reset the MPG for about 100-150 miles I'm guessing, so I think that's long enough to get a pretty good average reading.

Hey man, nice pics from the show. Mine has been getting about 13 or 14. Most of mine is in town just going to eat and stuff. BUt yeah Ive filled up like 3 times and dont have but 700 miles. I'll bet when we get a CAI it will get better. Most every vehicle I've ever put one on got better mileage. But your right , my ls1/6 gets better mileage with 4.10 gears. Go figure!
