Different Amp Brands
Is it wrong to use two different amps during an install. I am currently running a JL 12W7 w/slash 1000 amp. I have decided to upgrade the factory speakers with the Hertz MLK 165.3 and MXP 165.3, I want to use the JL HD 600/4 but i can't find a place to hide the amp, I am considering going with the Alpine amp or a Hertz amp, but i don't want to switch out the Slash amp at this time. Thank you guys for the advice

I will be running an Arc 1200.6 for my front stage, and a Helix SPXL1000 for my subs.

I have 2 different amps. I think sticking with the same brand is more for show from what I can tell….
I tried to stick to the same brand but the problem was, JL makes the subs that are in a box custom to my car and JBL makes the component speakers I wanted. And neither brand makes (or I at least I could not find them) a Class A/B and Class D amp for the power rating I wanted. So I have a DC Audio A/B 4 Ch for front stage and the JL Class D amp for the subs. In the process of installing now. The only advice I have seen in response to my proposed build was don't mix voice speakers. |

You can mix pairs of speakers all you want! Find the best of each pair that sounds good to you and you can afford, and go for it!

Thanks guys for the info. I think I might just stay with powering the Hertz MLK 165.3 and Hertz MXP 165.3, with my JL XD400/4 which is currently pushing my BA system.

Old school A/B- well played, sir... I admit I went with Alpine D's for the small physical size because the Camaro is so small, but my old A/B's are on a shelf and I really want to use them at some point. I've got car amps from the early 90's and I swear they sound better than any of this new stuff... but I can't complain about the tiny little Alpine class D's.
