1LE and Chevy Performance Parts Question.

I have a 2013 Black 2SS/1LE and considering some Chevy engine upgrades. Has anyone installed the Chevy Camaro performance cam and performance (high flow) heads to their 1LE ?? I understand that this would make the 1LE the "Ultimate Street Camaro" to use the Chevy jargon. Not sure what kind of extra performance boost can be had if in addition to the heads and cam the Z/28 CAI is included ?? Any information would be appreciated.

I did not install their package, but did a cam swap on my 1LE. The cam alone really made a noticeable difference in power. How much is the kit?

Pricing on GM's website was 1756.95 for the heads and cam. Was thinking that perhaps being GM parts a dealer could give me a price quote for the installation. Not sure of how much of a HP boost they would provide to the LS3 though. I was just thinking it would at least put my 1LE/LS3 into LT1 territory.

Haven't seen any user testing numbers, GM states 40hp.

I asked about this head and cam kit at Jimmy Johnson Chevrolet, they told me it would void my warranty , but that they could install it for me. Asked how much? I believe they told me around $3200 parts and labor.

I appreciate all the replies. It sounds like having this kit plus installation is a little over 5k. A little steep for 40 HP, but I wouldn't know how long it takes to do let alone if its labour intensive. Could be.

PARTS AND LABOR= $3,200 + tuning= around $3,800. How did you do the math to total 5K?

If this GM performance stuff still voids the warranty I'd just assume do DIY bolt-ons (intake ported TB, 25% UD pulley, headers, cats, dyno tune). Potentially good for more than 40 hp. I see no point in taking apart a perfectly good engine with so few miles.
Heads and cam do make for a whole new smile on the face, though. I'd like to do that in 30k miles or so...

Skip Chevy performance. Pick up either a CAI or Rotofab intake, kooks or american racing headers, and exhaust if you don't have npp (dual mode performance exhaust). Then get a tune.

I would recommend the rotofab, because it looks better, although the CAI is the slightly better performer.

I also went with kooks. ARH are a little bit more expensive, but you get slightly better customer service. You can also get some cheaper yet very high quality ones that are not made in the USA. I think texas speed and few others get them from a reputable vendor overseas.

I would also recommend going with off road pipes, because it sounds incredible. If you have to then go with some high flow cats.

For exhaust I would recommend Kooks, ARH, and corsa. If my packing starts to come out of my stock npp exhaust I will probably go with corsa.

Finally, for a tune I would recommend doing some research and finding out if there are some decent local tuners or if you would want to go with a remote tune. There is Matt at FSP, dyno Steeve, JRE, as well as a few others. I am being tuned by remotely by JRE, and the experience has been great.

Also check out some of the numbers people are making with intake, headers, exhaust, and a tune.
