Car not filling all the way with fuel

Let me first say this MIGHT have been a problem with the gas pump I was at and not the car. And yes I did a search already too!

My car would not fill beyond 3/4 tank this morning. I have seen this issue before on both the Corvette and 2500 series pickups however both of those get stuck at 1/2 and have two fuel tanks.

Has anyone seen this issue on the Camaro? I will head to another gas station later and try it again.

did you have the pump all the way down into the filler neck? I know occasionally that the vapor shutoff in the pump will trigger too soon and I've had to pull the pump out some to finish filling up.

Yeah I use this particular pump often, I pulled it out, put it back in, turned it sideways (used to work on my C5 Vette and my 87 TA), did nothing. Never had this problem before.

HOWEVER this station did have a pump with a problem (I dunno which pump though) that it would not shut off, maybe this is the same one. Happened to my dad with hsi Charger. I'll try a different station later. Just figured if it was a Car problem someone else maybe came across it.

No problem here. Sounds like a pump problem and not your car if it just started doing this.

I've noticed the Shell gas stations here automatically stop filling my tank if I don't force the nozzle in there down enough. This gets annoying because I can never use the latch to auto-fill my tank, I have to hold the nozzle for the entire fill!

False alarm. Different gas station, no problems.

I really like the Sunoco I go to that I had this problem at, so I'll mention it to them next time.

When they first started with these nozzles in the 90's ,we had all kinds of issues with them. The problem lies in when people try to top off the tank, the vapor return system gets liquid fuel in it.I don't know if the nozzles have changed or not (I havent worked at a gas station since I graduated ITT in 95),but we used to fix them by stretching the hose out very tight ,and then pulling back on the vapor seal. Then it would drain the fuel out into a bucket, after that it would work just fine.
