Windshield Crack!!

It looks like my windshield has cracked , I only have 500 miles on it. I have even done any extended highway driving yet. It looks like the crack started from the bottom of the windshield, I dont see any rock chips in the glass, or anything. I know my insurance company covers this, but if there is no rock chip, does this mean that it just wasn't installed correctly? Is it worth taking it to the dealer and seeing if they will fix it. Or am I out the money (just the deductible) The crack rises pretty up from the bottom of the glass then curves to the right. When I can get a good picture that actually shows I will posted it.

I had the same thing in mine, they wanted to charge me 118 to look it over and see if it was my fault. The car had 62 miles on it, I told them to shove it. It was stress cracked from the top right all over, but my insurance covered it.

If there is no evidence of it being struck by an object, it should be covered under warranty. Demand OEM glass. Do not settle for third rated crap like Safelite uses.

Yeah I felt the crack, the only reason I finally noticed it because it rose above the black on the windshield and starting to curve right. You can feel alone the whole crack and feel the crack no pits or dips of a stone hitting it. Also no stone hits anywhere on the hood car. I looked over the entire hood to see if it had bounced off the hood, and hit the windshield. But I have to believe that it wouldn't be easy for a rock to hit below the wiper without hitting the hood and chipping that too.

do a search, someone got them to warranty it before.. also, make sure you get OE glass and urethane.. Dinitrol is the OE urethane and Pilkington is the OE glass...

Should be a warranty item. I have $0 deductible comprehensive coverage which covers windshields, etc.

I have been hearing that a few people have had that problem now and they were saying something about it being a stress fracture in the glass. Hope it all works out. To bad that happened just before the 4th.

I've been seeing alot of threads about windshield stress fractures on this site. I wonder if it's a design flaw of the Camaro or something with the OEM glass. What's everyone's opinion?

their own... on top of techs who work on comission and steering tactics that has hindered independent shops for years since they are also in the claims adminstration business too..

Safelite makes their own glass. On a level of one to three (one being best), safelite glass is a three. If you go through Safelite, always ask for OE glass.

The best glass manufacturers are PPG, LOF, Pilkington and Guardian.
