The warranty basically covers stuff that really won't ever go bad. It sucks that you just have 12k miles and your getting that annoying damn light. I had mine come on at 40k and of course I was pissed

had to replace mine on my 05 FX35... under hood. Dealer part is $125, and took less than 3 minutes. Dealer want $420 to repair (unscrew a 12mm, pull the vacuum hose, and install new)!!!! crazeeeee

Maybe an easy fix for the Camaro, and worth attempting if you know which one is bad..... I would.

This is what my invoice said when they fixed mine:

LOWERED REAR CRADLE TO ACCESS EVAP. EMISSION CANISTER. REMOVED AND REPLACED EVAP EMISSIONS CANISTER/VENT SOLENOID VALVE ASSEMBLY. REASSEMBLED CRADLE.

You got a deal my friend, if my dealer would charge me that I would just have them do it. I just had everything overhauled and a dual pump put into my G8 from a buddy that has his own business and he moves to Texas this week for a job, so short staffed.

Not sure what they would say if I asked them how they would feel about doing another one, exactly same setup. That's my best choice for now.

It depends what code. If you have one code then its like less then a 5 min job up by the engine. If its code P0449 then its the evap solenoid valve that's located in the tank

Has anyone had the dealer replace it and then it go bad again? Did they have to replace it for free the second time around bc they guarantee their work? If so then I might have another dealer do it if the price is right.

Is this a specific GM part and it can only be replaced by another GM that's fine but if I can go aftermarket that would be best if its going to keep failing if I do it myself.

From what I also read, anyone with a 2010 like myself is screwed bc we have the worst design, in 2011 they changed it

When I took mine in 2 years ago for this problem the first dealer quoted me $1200, I took it to a different one and they laughed and quoted me $450 and had me come in the next morning to fix it. I guess it depends on the dealer

$450 sounds right. They covered mine because I was just out of warranty but I saw their copy of the invoice and it said $450.

There's a few more people with this same issue under the :
Camaro Issues / Problems | Warranty Discussions | TSB and Recalls

I just had mine replaced on a 2010 RS with 15,000 miles on it. I got GM assist involved as soon as my CEL came on. I finally paid 300.00 of a 800.00+ bill.
Dropped the gas tank, I believe GM put it in a different location on the 2011's. They knew of a problem with these but no recall.
