if they wanted to save weight why didn't they made a fiberglass hood plastic fenders and doors like the 4th gen... it could run even faster and that 3 second lap..maybe 4??

Fiberglass is often heavier than aluminum. At least that is true with boats and RVs.

So there is a 6.5 percent torque multiplication advantage vs. the 1LE tire, rearend, transmission package. Cruising rpms are 6.5 percent higher as well.

Somebody said that it will have the best power to weight ratio of any Camaro. I don't know if that is true but if the ZL1 s 7.1 lbs per hp. And the Z28 is 7 lbs per hp for example, and it weighs 3750 lbs, then the the LS7 will have to have 535 hp.

I don't think they are going to get 535 hp unless the do a little something to the cam but that is the calculation.

Regardless, this car is going to be a badass and highly collectible.
The factory ls7 tune (in the z06) leaves a lot of power on the table. Also she pulls tons of power when the coolant temps start to creep past 200-210*. So if they wanted to they can easily pick up a few with a revision of the tune.

I'd be shocked if there isn't a "Track mode" for the Magnetic Ride Control as well as the PCM.

Well not literally shocked, I'd have to stick my finger in an electrical socket, but you know what I mean.

something else to ponder....

Camaro always came in just under powerd vrs the corvette with the same drivetrain. Now that the C6 Z06 will no longer be, I am willing to bet the LS7 will come with a few more ponies in the Z28

Better flowing exhaust, CAI, re-tuned for the Camaro & gearing...

Just hope its not way out of reach price wise..

Does the z06 ls7 come with the same tri-y headers or cast?

They look like what they describe the new Pfadt headers which are supposed to be the very latest and best power making setup.

I would likely not track one either, but it's the mojo that goes along with having a Z28 that makes it attractive. Besides, if you had one, you might look for the opportunity to track it occasionally!

I Think the Z28 is a very cool concept, LS7 in the Camaro is pretty epic if you ask me. I just didn't like one thing about it. I got carbo ceramic brakes, something that wasn't available in the ZL1. But then the interior was shitty? No gauges on the bottom, by the shifter? No floor mats? Not that I'm hating on the Camaro interior, but I hope they spruce it up for the 6th Gen.

Very long and technical posts.... In layman terms....is it more durrabke than the ls7 in the z06? Or is it limited to NA applications sans boost?

Very informative, love the 427 ci motor. Naturally aspirated and 7000 rpm red line.
