Front to back tire size difference

Does anyone know a specific figure for how far apart the front and rear tires can be in diameter without making the computer unhappy? Been trying to figure this out and keep getting mixed results. I have seen less than 1/2", less than 1", ~6% difference....not sure which of these is right.

I have 285/35/20 on the front and 315/35/20 on the rear. No problems.
Whatever difference that is. haha

Yes, keep the diameter within .5" or less and you will be in good shape

If this is the actual figure, than the above user should have a light.

I too am needing to see if anyone knows the exact difference that may set a light. I am looking at some Race Stars/ET Street R's for the rear that will have a 27.9" diameter, and the OEM setup has a 28.7" diameter, so there is .8" difference front to rear.

It seems as if I have found that you lose power steering as well as have all the annoying lights on if you have too large of a difference. Before I go this route with the tire size, I was really hoping someone has a published spec on that max difference. My search has not been able to yield much either....
