I went with the new BFG and spent about $1k installed. I've been happy so far. I will say that I put 20x9 all around and rotate them front to back about every 3k or so to try to get some more life out of them.

Next time I'll probably try the Mickey Thompson tires. I've heard good stuff about them as well.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports all the way! Several of my friends have purchased a set for their rides, everything from a 2012 E350 to a 2013 Boss LS and they really transform the car, and they seem to be lasting. These are the tires the ZL1 guys seem to be going with. A little pricey, but worth it, well under your limit. There's a reason they are on the C7, not to mention the Ferrari F12...

Yes they can. I just spoke with the tech rep at Pirelli and he said the asymetrical tread does permit side to side rotation. The staggered tire sizes does not permit rotation of tires front to back.

There are not directional arrows on the stock P-Zeros... only the "Outside" specification.

I guess I didn't word my first post very well...

I just put on a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS All Season, Ultra High Performance tires and LOVE them! They are pricey, but they are also rated at twice the mileage of what the Pirellis were. I'd also recommend Michellin Pilot Super Sports..

Also, these appear to be "directional" tires. So, as I understand it, they cannot even be rotated side to side - likr the staggered Pirellis. Correct?
Yes they are directional, but then again I never did anything with the P-Zero's and they wore even after 20K miles.

Yup I'd go with these also. I've had stock tires, nitto05's, hankook v12, and now mickey thompsons. The MT's street comps are awesome, and they are not too expensive.

Does anyone know what the biggest contact patch we can get out back on the stock wheels? I know some people have crammed 305s back there, but I'm guessing that would actually have a smaller patch than say a 295 due to sidewall flex and stuff.

I went through two sets of Stock Pirelli's (about 15K miles each). I did a lot of research on Camaro5 and TireRack.com and went with General G-Max AS-03 Tires based on what was important to me. Cost and tread life with little impact on traction.
