What kind of oil is good for an SS

What's a good brand and where do you buy it from? Also oil filters as well what kind to get and where? Going to start doing my own oil changes. Thanks

Well, you're going to get all kinds of viable answers because just about anything will work.

I buy Mobil1 on sale at Costco for $4.16/qt and Napa Gold (Wix) filters online, in bulk for $5 each. I really like buying a case (12) online as it saves all the time and expense of running around for the latest auto parts store sale. Instead, you've got everything in stock, in your garage to do the work whenever you feel like it. This combo easily handles the OLM distance or one year maximum.

Pepboys.com has 30% off a $50 purchase with 'on-line' orders including oil. use 'secret30' at checkout, choose 'pay at store' for no shipping charges and you get the discount...

I've been running the recommended Mobil 1 5w-30 Chevrolet recommends and is Dexos approved. No issues here.

Walmart has the 5 quart jugs for less than $30 usually, so I just buy 2 of those.

Always factory recommended oil and filter. I am quite anal though and change the oil every 3 months (which usually is about 2000 miles of driving)

Gibbs racing ls30 is the best for our cars. It's made specifically for for LS cars (hence ls30)

Well the one on the right is no longer made, the PF48 is now an e core with no check valve. My stash was getting low so I bought 6 of the gold version

Particle Size Retention
Duraguard = 25 microns (there are 25.4 micron in .001 inch)

Ultraguard Gold = 8 to 10 microns (figure b)
Average Human Hair = 80 to 100 microns
