OP - Good win. I have never understood the whole "you beat the driver, not the car" excuse/crutch. In the words of Vin Diesel "Winning is winning"

I too have won against a 2013 M6 ZL1 in the 1/4 mile. I cut a decent light and he was never able to recover. With NO TUNE I got 407 at the wheels

My best friend owns a bone stock zl1 and has told me how he's been beaten on the highway twice by 5.0 mustangs. The second one is another friend and co-worker of mine. It's a track pack 5.0 with exhaust and a tune. Basic bolt ons. I don't know at all how it's possible that it beat him. I also ran against the same mustang in my bone stock 1LE and he pulled on me as well. The only thing I've noticed is a huge hindrance to our cars is the torque management and throttle response. Compared to my cam/bolt-on/tune 2006 GTO, the Camaro feels like a slouch. Granted I had more power in the GTO, the snappiness of the car is what caught everyone off guard. My honest opinion is the torque management and stock throttle response kills these cars.

I also would beat zl1's when I was just bolt ons. 3out of 3. I have just a reg ss. My Buddy with his 1le bolt ons has also beaten 2 different zl1's when he was just on bolt ons. I was even asked by one of them if my car was the new z28. Lol

just stumbled on this thread and want to add my opinion. with the bolt ons you currently have its possible you can make 430plus at the wheels some zl1's dyno 475 at the wheels you weigh 38somethin he weighs 41somethin common sense will tell you its a drivers race, with the z maybe having a slight advantage. i still havent raced a z but when i had cai, ported tb,lth, catless mids it was a drivers race between me and a friends cts v with a tune making 512 rwhp vs my 435 on the exact same dyno.sometimes i would edge him out other times he would edge me out.now he makes 542 rwhp and i have made 532 on the same dyno and its not even close i walk away with ease but thats not a surprise.i would love to run a z with bolt ons but i see more hellcats than z's around me for some reason

Agree. I've been on the track with ZL1s and they are definitely much faster. -CRT Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The 517 was the calculated number at the flywheel; not rwhp.

The race was with TC/LC off. The Z/28 and Hellcat smoked their tires. Z/28 3 seconds faster on the road course. Just saying...

I don't know him, but they called him a pro. The point was that a slower car can beat a faster one depending on driver. On the second run the mustang still beat the Z/28 but the charger won. Who cares what happen on the road course. That isn't the type of racing this thread is about. I would hope that a 70k road course purpose built car could beat a 40k general purpose street performance car. That would have been a huge fail otherwise.
