Footwell lighting connect to "headlights"
Hi everyone, I just ordered a set of the footwell lighting kit from diode dynamic. I am looking to wire these to, when the headlights "night mode" are on, they are on as well.
For example, when I turn the headlight switch to the right, I want the footwell light up too. When it reaches 7pm, dark enough (or raining, a parking garage etc), and the headlights automatically turn on, I want the footwell lights turning on as well.. Also, when it is dark, and I unlock the car, I know the headlights will turn on too, so I want my footwell lights to turn on too. In other word, the footwell lights should be on when I am driving at night. i did research, but all i found was wiring it to the dome light, which mean if I am not misunderstanding, the lights will be on only when i open the door, or when i turn on the dome lights manually. =/ I hope that I express myself clearly and hope someone knows the answer. I appreciate your help and your input. Thank you!! Last edited by hzisfrom1994; 09-14-2015 at 07:26 PM. |

I did this a few years ago, and I wired them into the side marker wires I think. I can't remember exactly why I did it on those, but they're on at night like what you want. It should work if you wire them to the headlights.

I used this as well, but I used the PWM input on a NightOwl Strip light module. This way the ABL circuit is regulating the Brightness based on the dimer switch. It also turns on and off based on darkness, and doors being opened or closed while key is out.
Im not sure how much power the BCM can put out to the ABL before burning up. But you need to be careful how much load you tap to that circuit. |

Power cable was a color yellow cable.
I think it works the best, the footwell light turns on whether, you turn on the fog lights, you turn on the ambient lights, you turn on the headlights, when you open the door from the driver side (doesn't matter whether it is during the day or night), and when the light control is on AUTO, and it is dark/raining etc!! |

Is it dangerous that we tapped into the yellow wire my set is from LED GLOW, it's like a multi color with different modes it works fine just it tries to dim and it goes cray when I lock the doors

I guess it could be bad LED, I suggest test them with a normal power source and see if they work perfectly. |

LEDs have trouble fading out since they aren't like normal conventional light bulbs, they can fade to a point, but then just have to either flicker, or shut off completely. They cant fade gradually to nothing like an incandescent light can.
