Installed Elite Engineering Catch Can
I just installed the catch can on my 2012 lfx. Is it supposed to be making a little hissing sound out of the can? It sounds more like air coming out.

Yeah, mine has always sounded like it has a vacuum leak. It doesn't because all the fittings are sealed but I assume that's how it's supposed to be.

That could be the direct injection system. It is a distinct "tick" noise.

That ticking noise might be the purge valve.

Direct injection ticking and purge valve ticking are both normal.

Which can did you go with? 2 port or 3? I've been trying to get in contact with Elite Engineering but when ever I call they are "on the other line" or "in the shop". Got a generic email response from them but I'd like talk to someone since I have several technical questions.

I installed the Elite Engineering 2-port can several months ago. Install was easy, and it's captured quite a bit of oil and gunk since then.
I, too, just noticed the hissing sound recently. Not sure why I hadn't noticed it before. Anyway, from what I've read online, the manufacturers claim that some noise may be heard from the air pressure within the hoses, especially on longer hoses. I haven't noticed any performance issues with my car. The hoses seem tight and clamped down to me, and the can is screwed on tight as well, so I've just disregarded it. |

2 Port here, and it's catching quite a bit of oil.

I have the same hiss since install a few years ago. Tried several different setups with the vacuum lines and nothing helped. Spoke with them at Elite a few times and they tried to help and even sent some new clamps to try. Just got use to the hiss and after seeing the sludge it captures wouldn't run without one. Have one on my SS to but it doesn't seem as necessary since it's not DI. Don't ever capture much in it but still keep running it.
