Good point!! But I still believe some enterprising hot rodder will do it! Hey let's reverse the hood like the vette!

Aftermarket cowl induction hood. Pre-painted to match your factory color.

Vacuum operated cowl door like '70 Chevelle SS, or electrically operated like some other designs.

Plumb it to modified, high flow airbox with 90mm intake plumbing to match throttle body.

It will be done.

OK so I'm the king of reviving old threads today, but I'm wondering if there is enough room behind the slit to put a small oil-cooler? From what I understand there is already an oil-cooler on the car, but maybe a cooler for power steering fluid or tranny fluid? Just a thought.

Doubt it.....better off mounting that in front of the radiator/condenser anyway.

actually... yes you probably could do that. the only thing is that you need to make sure that the air going thru the mail-slot can go somewhere. if you just route a cooler behind the grille and dont ensure that air can flow past it then you might not see any effect.

but I was thinkin maybe a ps cooler would be the best option as most times those are the thin in-line style. hmmmm, time to do some more measurements.

The Corvette (maybe Z51 only) has a ps cooler. It mounts near the ps pump/resevoir. I hope the Camaro does too. Any of you motorheads at Indy notice a ps cooler under the hood near ps pump?

From what I have seen it seams like you only get the slot in the front of the hood if you get the SS1 or SS2 and you do not add the RS option. Is that correct?

Or, if you buy a Mustang GT, GT500, or Challenger R/T, SRT8.

If you order an SS you get the mail slot. SS1, SS2, and RS/SS2.

The reason I thought the mail slot was deleted on an SS/RS is that I have seen several pictures of SS/RS Camaros recently which do not have the mail slot. I know the Inferno Orange pictures show the mail slot however that car looks to have an SS badge in the front grill, and it does not have the 4 pack gauges (SS1).

I hate that d@mn bs mail slot so much that I'd be willing to pay GM more for a factory delete option.
